I do tech support, and I hear all the time the whole "I'm not great at computers, please be patient" and every time I think the same thing, so I'll put it here.
I don't give a damn if you know how to use a computer, the correct term for a part, or even that the mouse belongs on the desk and not the floor. All I, or any other tech really wants, is someone who knows how to read above a 3rd grade level, who can follow direction without arguing.
The worst is when people report an issue and give the vaguest answers possible.

Not really a shame because I would have enjoyed continuing the debate with the OP guy, but what we saw there was other users coming in to muddy the waters and add their all important (but not really) two cents on the matter, making our job harder. The guy who got banned over it has had a history of doing that and several other offenses on top. But there you go, someone always has to crash the party with their own agenda.
