It's the MLS man, he'll have no problem scoring goals there.
Maybe, but the MLS is starting to become a tough league. I wouldn't say keane has set it alight. 10 goals in 18 isn't bad but he's far better than miller, so he might bag a few but i wouldn't say he'd be prolific.
Fabio is ready right now, which is why I don't understand the decision to send him out on loan and then spend yet more money on a new player.
Like Fergie said in today's papers, Fabio is too good to play back up. He needs a lot more game time than he's getting under Evra. Evra is still going to be first choice regardless of his proneness to errors because he's a game changer when he's on form. Fabio's only just turned 20 so it'll be good for him to get 20+ games under his belt with QPR.
When you have Rooney tracking back (and doing the amount of work as 2 guys anyway) you don't need your other striker to track back. You never have both your strikers track back since when you win the ball back you have nothing to aim for in front of you, which is why Berbatov's 'laziness', as some called it, was in fact a good thing.
It doesn't matter when he scored those goals. The point is he scored them.
Yes i get that, but the premiership isn't a half marathon. Nah, his laziness goes beyond simply tracking back to the half way (which is what hernandez and welbeck both do, while rooney covers the whole pitch - even Tevez tracked back and still does today). Berbatov won't even chase a ball that's a few feet in front of him most days. He just doesn't have that drive, if it's not played to him he see's it as a lost cause. You get the odd day when he tries harder and he runs riot, it's just too rare an occasion to warrant him staying.
Again I'll say I don't think we need Lucas. He plays in the exact same position as Shinji (attacking midfielder/winger) and Young. I think we're wasting money buying another player for that position when we need to spend on a more central midfielder in the mould of Scholes for when he retires. Plus Carrick is now in his 30's, we dont' know when Fletcher's going to be back (he's apparently still not back training, so he won't be back for the start of the season) and Cleverly's proving to be a bit injury prone thus far in his career. That's the position we need to invest money in.
When we already have Shinji, Young, Nani, Giggs, Valencia, Anderson all of whom are attacking midfielders, we really don't need Lucas.
That's the thing, fergie is thinking of the future. Nobody thought much of Rooney because we already had Van Nistelrooy, Solskjaer as well as Saha and alan smith. We also had Bellion (who was admittedly wank) and "next big thing" Guiseppe Rossi (who we stupidly released - in 2004 he was twice the player macheda is now) We had enough back up to sell Forlan on, but injuries left us short with RVN, Saha and Smith missing a lot of the season forcing us to use Rooney.
I'd say with Valencia and Nani being injury prone, Young being inconsistant and anderson not being THAT good. Giggs is now a central midfielder rather than attacking, he's more of a scholes because he has lost a lot of pace these days, and is there as more of a back up than anything. Remember, our midfield isn't young really. Lucas at 19 would be a buy for the future.
I still wouldn't mind seeing Lucas in a united shirt but i'd rather we bought a strong right back (rafael is injury prone and a hot head) and Smalling/Jones are natural centrebacks and will be our central two in a few years. Right back is such a problem we've resorted many times to playing Valenica there (even fletcher played there when City beat us 6-1...) Currently we've got Vesseli playing RB in reserves and he's also a centre back. We wouldn't have such a hard time at Centre (when vidic/rio are injured) if we had a full choice of Centrebacks.
We definitely need a carrick replacement (Fletcher could be out another year at least).
Another rumour i've heard is Christian Eriksen. Apparantly Zenit and another club have bid for him and he's asked Ajax if United have made any moves because they are his first choice.
