If we're drawing up top 5 releasees lists, then these would be my 5:
Don't even remember the last time he was on tv, there doesn't seem to be any sign of him at house shows either. As a singles competitor he's not going to get anywhere as he's (IMO) pretty poor in the ring and not great on the mic either.
Incredibly big physique, but beyond that, he offers nothing. Useless on the mic, useless in the ring. WWE has enough other big muscle guys that are both younger and show more promise. Even Ryback is better than this guy in both departments (which speaks volumes for how bad Jackson is). Another who's last appearance was when mammals were taking their first steps on the earth.
Again, when was this guy on tv last? He's made a few rare appearances on NXT, but that's about it. A shame that WWE didn't allow him to carry on with his Great Muta tribute gimmick he did on NXT Redemption for a while as that could have helped him get over. He's also 36 years old, and despite being a decent wrestler, he's not being given anything to work with. I think WWE would be better off scouting a new Japanese talent to sign as Tatsu isn't doing anything for them right now.
The Great Khali
Seriously, why is Khali still on the roster? I remember reports saying that Khali was done as an in-ring performer for WWE about a year and a half ago, but here he is still featured pretty regular. I think if he had a choice he'd probably retire from in-ring competition, but I think WWE are essentially forcing him to continue (for whatever reason). The man was never a great mover, but he's even worse these days, as he can barely bend his knees and he has trouble even walking (we've seen several live reports from shows with people commenting on how he struggles to walk down the ramp). There's reports now of WWE being interested in a guy from India who's even bigger than Khali, though after doing some research, that guy himself is pushing 40 (I think he was 36 from what I recall from my research). But if that comes to fruition, then I think we'll finally see the last of Khali in the ring. Just move him to an ambassadorial role ASAP I say.
Yes, I think WWE should release Sin Cara. This project to me is one of WWE's greatest recent failures. Brought in as Rey Mysterio's heir to be, the man has continuously failed to live up to his hype. He's failed to get over with the fans to the extent that people expected, he's proven to be injury prone due to his inability to adapt to the WWE's style of wrestling (though I mostly blame WWE for this for not having him spend time in FCW (as it was back then) before he came to the main roster) and despite having been in WWE for well over 2 and a half years, he still can't speak English! Now, I don't know if he's being told not to speak English because of his character, but during his tag team with Rey Mysterio, we saw a couple of backstage promos from them, and Mysterio had to translate everything Cara said. If you can't speak the language of the country you're performing in, then what hope is there for you to connect with the audience? To me, 2 and a half years without learning a lick, A LICK of the language is just pure laziness and lack of commitment.
On top of this, he was out-performed by Hunico in their Sin Cara vs Sin Cara feud, and he's now got added pressure on his back as WWE have now got the masked Samuray del Sol, known now as Kalisto, in NXT, who is younger than him by nearly 4 years, knows the language, and will be more adept with the WWE/American style of working having wrestled in the States in the past. To me, unless Sin Cara shows miracle like improvement, then he's on borrowed time in WWE, as at this point, he's just an expensive waste of roster space, as he's not appeared on tv in a long time.
That's my fave 5 for the chop. I'd also like to see Hornswoggle released. I don't think I need to explain why.
