Card for Wrestlemania updated.
So Goldberg beat Kevin Owens for the Universal title at Fastlane. Was hoping that wouldn't happen but alas. I will admit though that this does add intrigue as to who will win this. We're going to have a part-time Universal Champion post-Wrestlemania whoever the winner will be.
If Goldberg wins then I could see him vacate the title the next night on Raw, leading to a tournament to crown a new champion. I don't see Goldberg wrestling for WWE on a semi-regular basis past Wrestlemania, and I expect this to be his last match as part of the regular roster. I could see them use him in the Rumble in the future or as a one off opponent for a special attraction ppv perhaps, but I think this is his last match.
I think Lesnar is the favorite to win and I want him to win too. I think the potential matches for him going forward are excellent. I could see him dropping the title down the line to Samoa Joe, or Finn Balor perhaps. Roman Reigns is another possibility. I just hope that we see him appear and defend the title on a more regular basis than he did last time he was champion.
Bray Wyatt will be facing Randy Orton or AJ Styles for the WWE title. We'll find out which on Smackdown tonight so I'll wait until tomorrow to pass comment on that match. It'll likely be Orton as Styles seems to be heading towards a clash vs Shane McMahon at Wrestlemania, plus Orton did win the Rumble so technically he's already earned the right to fight for the title.
Chris Jericho will be taking on Kevin Owens, as expected, for the United States title. I can't remember the last time the US title was in a noteworthy match at Wrestlemania (the John Cena vs Rusev match from a couple of years back being the exception), so I'm glad that the US title will be in a match of note at this event, and I hope that they make the title a focus in this feud instead of ignoring it.
I think these two could have a stellar match at this event. With the story behind the feud adding to it it could be excellent. Right now this is the match to watch on the card. I think Kevin Owens will likely win the match, with a rematch taking place at Payback, before Jericho takes his month off to tour with Fozzy. I wouldn't be surprised to see Jericho and Owens continue the feud when Jericho returns too since this is a feud that has plenty of legs if WWE play their cards right.
Bayley defending her Womens little against Charlotte and Sasha Banks should be a great match too.
I was very surprised to see Bayley retain the title at Fastlane since I expected Charlotte's ppv streak to continue. Strange that they chose to break that streak at a 'B' level ppv, though it was a pleasant surprise. I expect to see Bayley retain here. Question is; will Sasha turn on her before or after the ppv? I suspect after and then this will lead to Bayley vs Sasha one on one. It's pretty obvious that Sasha is going to eventually turn heel on Bayley though.
Enzo and Cass or Sheamus and Cesaro will take on Gallows and Anderson for the Raw tag team titles.
I expect it to be Enzo and Cass having another go, but I could see them making it a triple threat. I fully expect Enzo and Cass to eventually win the titles off of Gallows and Anderson, either at Wrestlemania or on Raw the night after.
