    ECW: Return of Extreme.

Backstory: WWE held a pole vote on WWE.Com regarding which wrestling show would the fans like to see return. ECW placed first by a distance with WCW trailing behind and AWA coming third respectively. Various former ECW employees then went public with there thoughts on social media that ECW should come back and this time, "Done right". Paul Heyman then weighed in with his thoughts and went public suggesting that he would love one more go at running ECW and showing fans it was more then just bloodshed and weapons. Support began to grow and after months of pressure from the audiance with petitions, signs and vocal support at live events. Vince has stated that ECW will return and Heyman will get another chance to run the company. However it will once more run under the WWE brand and will be on the WWE Network.

Paul has been giving his own budget to sign "superstars" using his contacts, along with a handful of WWE superstars that were agreed upon by all parties. All Paul now has to prove, is that bringing back ECW was indeed.. "Best for business".

ECW Episode One: "Return of Extreme"
Location: ECW Arena - Philadelphia, PA.

Heyman & Triple H segment: The camera shows Hunter and Paul talking backstage. Heyman thanks Hunter for coming out and being apart of the re-launch of ECW. Triple H begins to smile and says "He's not here for ECW" He's here to talk about business and that's the WWE Brand that ECW is working under. That means that while Heyman has his "little" show back, The Authority are in charge full stop and if this falls through and ECW fails.. "again" then Hemayn will be soley to blame. Heyman will then become defensive and say Triple H should be more worried about what's going to happen when a "little show" is beating Raw in the ratings. Heyman then walks off and leaves Triple H pondering Heyman's words.
Intro: Foley & Styles welcome the crowd and announce the return of "ECW". They then announce the first match of the night and it's starting extreme.

Match One: Balls Mahoney vs Justin Credible - Extreme Rules Match.

The match see's Balls come out to a hero's ovation while Justin Credible is heavily boo'ed like the good ole' days. Both men are clearly wanting to put on a good opening bout and give it there all. Hitting each other with everything from trash cans to chairs, to cookie trays and even a road sign. The ending comes as Balls looks to power bomb Justin through a table that's been set up in the ring. Justin wriggles free and superkicks Balls onto the table before going top rope. Justin then leaps off the top rope and drives his elbow to the heart of Mahoney before scoring with the three as the crowd boo.

Heyman Segment: Heyman comes out to a huge ovation with chants of his name and chants of "E-C-Dub" being heard. He thanks the crowd for there support and loyalty now and throughout the years. Paul says without the crowd, none of this would or would have been possible. Heyman then announces that while this is certaintly not the "watered down" version of ECW from a couple of years ago, it's not going to be the one from many years back either. It's a new and improved ECW, "better then ever" with new idea's and a game plan to continue to grow.

Paul announces he's been searching the globe and scouting for talent that can light up the ECW ring and impress the crowd. Just like Jericho did! Just like Eddie Guerrero did! He also says that along with these new signings, He's brought back some familiar faces like we seen in the first match and like we will continue too see going forward with the show. Paul then says all good wrestlers need a title to chase and that's why he's as of now, bringing back the original ECW World Heavyweight Title.
He then announces that a new Champion will be crowned tonight as there will be four qualifying matches that will take place with each respective winner entering the Main Event. The Main Even will then be a Fatal Four Way World Title Match.

With the crowd cheering.. Heyman, attempts to leave the ring when this happens..

Cult of personality begins to play and the crowd go crazy with chants of CM Punk. Every single crowd member is in utter shock and it's clear that Paul Heyman is too as he looks on, mouth open and wyed eyed. Punk draw's closer and enters the ring with a smile on his face. Heyman ask's Punk what is he doing here, your not signed to ECW. "You're not meant to be here" says Heyman. Punk replys with.. "I know but, you need a star and I need a show" which draws the crowd to cheer loudly once again. Punk then address his hiatus from the WWE and wresling in general. Punk will talk about how he had enough, he was beat up and burn't out. Punk says that's changed though.. He's rested and healed up. ECW was where he got his break, it's where Heyman give him the chance. Now Punk wants to give back to ECW and beating Raw in the ratings is just the way to do it. Punk will say that him and Heyman together are unbeatable and if Paul truly want's ECW to be, the best it can be. Then to let him wrestle tonight and place him in a Title qualifying match.. tonight. Paul thinks twice but the crowd begin chanting "Yes!" over and over as Heyman gives in and announces Punk's in a qualifying match tonight before then shaking the hand of Punk.

Match Two: Rob Van Dam vs Rey Mysterio - Winner enters the Main Event Title match.

Both men get a great response from the crowd with RVD just edging the vocal support thank's to his ECW roots and history. The match is fast paced with both men rolling back the years and looking better then ever. Each men go through there arsenal of moves with the crowd enjoying the spectacle of the match. The match draws to a conclusion as Rey tries setting up for the "619" but RVD gets off from the ropes and catches the masked Mexican with a "Vandaminator" knocking him down before leaping from the ropes with the "Five star frog splash" before scoring the three count. Both men then shake hands after the match.

Heyman/Punk/Dreamer segment: Punk is shown backstage, talking and sharing a joke with Tommy Dreamer as the crowd pop for the ECW legend. Dreamer then says it's good having Punk on board with ECW and back involved with wrestling. Punk thanks him before Tommy wishes him luck in his qualifying match tonight and Punk says the same to Dreamer as he walks out of the camera view. Heyman then enters the picture holding his phone out in his hand and looking annoyed.

Punk ask's what's wrong and Heyman says "What's wrong? What's wrong?! The Mcmahon's, that's what's wrong!" He then explains that's he had textes and phone calls from the Authority and the board of directors non-stop since Punk's appearance on the show. Punk then says.. "Sounds like they missed me" before smiling. Paul is not happy though and says.. "Punk, Please tell me you spoke with someone? Tell me, you cleared your return with someone?" Punk just smiles as Heyman shakes his head and looks worried. Heyman says that Punk's match is off tonight, He can't compete without sorting this out and clearing his return with the Authority first as he's still contracted to Raw. Punk then gets serious and tells Paul "I'm going out there.. I'm going to compete and I'm going to win the title. If that's a problem with the Authority, then they know where to find me" Punk then attempts to leave but Heyman pulls him back and says.. "Fine! But Punk, I'm not covering for you this time" Punk then leaves for his match as Heyman looks on worried and then appears to make a phone call on his cellphone.

Match Three: CM Punk vs Raven - Winner enters the Main Event Title match.

Punk and Raven put on a classic infront of a sold out ECW crowd. So much so, that a "This is awesome!" chant is sounded out numerous times during the bout. Both men are hard hitting but are using all there experience and ring knowledge to come out on top. The match finishes with Raven attempting to nail Punk with the "Raven Effect" DDT only for Punk to roll out and reverse a swinging neck breaker to the canvas. Punk then goes top rope and hits the Macho Man Elbow drop from the turnbuckle before hitting the go to sleep pose and taunt before lifting up a tired and unbalanced Raven and nailing the "G.T.S." in the middle of the ring and scoring with the.. One.. Two.. Three. Punk then celebrates as Raven exits the ring and watches on. The crowd are cheering for both as the show moves on.

Pre-Match Del Rio Promo: Del Rio's theme hits the stage and the crowd are in utter shock. Del Rio then enters onto the stage via the curtain with a look of disgust across his face as he makes his way down to the ring. The crowd give Del Rio possibly the loudest jeers of the night as the Mexican does not even aknowledge them. He enters the ring and ask's for a microphone. He begins talking and degrading ECW and how he's too good, too classy to be on a show like this. He's Alberto Del Rio, he should be Main Event on Raw or Smackdown.. yet, he's here in this dump for "idiotas" who crave blood and violance. Del Rio will say he's been made to be here and it's a disgrace. He's a world class athelete, not a thug. Del Rio will say good bye to the fans and say that this was the first and last time, a world class wrestler enters an ECW ring. He will then try and leave when his opponent will come out..

Match Four: Alberto Del Rio vs Tommy Dreamer - Winner enters the Main Event Title match.

The crowd erupt for Tommy as he makes his way down to the ring. The commentary team of Joey Styles & Mick Foley make references of how Del Rio's words would have riled up someone who truly bleeds ECW. This proves to be the case as Dreamer dominates the match from the get go. Beating down on Del Rio with enjoyment as the Mexican is left squriming from one side of the ring, to the other, only managing minimal offense before Dreamer takes full charge of the match and the outcome looks certain. Dreamer nails Alberto with the "Fallaway Slam" and sends Del RIo flying across the ring. Del Rio then begins begging for Dreamer to stop the match and even grabs hold of the referee to stop Dreamer from getting to him. As this happens, a figure jumps over the fan guard rail and enters the ring.

Mick Foley quickly points out the figure is Raven and the nature of this entrance is unwrapped as he blindside's Dreamer with a lowblow from behind before nailing the "Raven Effect" in the middle of the ring as Del Rio continues to blind the referee from what's going on. Raven then leaves and Del Rio watches on for a moment, smiling. He then picks up Dreamer before slapping in the cross-arm breaker and it's not long before Dreamer is tapping out in agony.

Vignette Segment: A Vignette begins to play. It showcases various WWE wrestlers, old and present on the mat, in pain, clearly hurting from the outcome of the match. Along with the pitctures and sounds of damage being down and wrestlers yelling out in agony. Then a strong, deep voice begins to shout out.. "It can't be stopped.. I can't be stopped!" over and over as the pictures of the hurting wrestlers continue. The video then goes blank before these words appear on the final piece of footage..

    "All Will Suffer..
    It begins.. Next Week."

Match Five: Sabu vs Rhyno - Winner enters the Main Event Title match.

Both ECW icons are cheered as they made there way down to the ring. Ryhno clearly show's he's not after there applaud or cheers though as he rips up a sign from a crowd member and get's heat from the Philly crowd. Sabu though laps it up and looks delighted to be back wrestling in an ECW ring once again. Both men battle hard in the match and the bout is totally split down the middle, 50-50. Neither man able to take full control and get on top of the match. With Ryhno using his sheer power and Sabu using his speed and agilty, the match is a good watch.

The outcome happens when Ryhno is in the corner of the ring. Sabu then goes to the outside of the ring and grabs a steel chair from ringside. He brings the chair in and sets it up for his famous "Air Sabu" move as the crowd begin cheering. Sabu runs across the ring and leaps from the chair, into the air but, as he does. The man beast, Rhyno charges out from the corner and nails Sabu mid-air with the.. GORE! GORE! GORE! as Sabu comes crashing down onto the steel chair, breaking it in two as the crowd pop for the replays. Rhyno then covers. One, two, three.

    Francine Promo:
    Francine is shown backstage.
The crowd pop for the unexpected appearance of ECW,iconic female, Francine. She introduces her self as the "Queen of Extreme" and confirms that she's proud to be back with the company. She announces she will be ECW's resident interviewer but there's more. She then announces that along with Paul Heyman, she will be helping to build the best Divas division in the world, right here on ECW. Francine then announces that for the first time in it's history, there will be a ECW Divas Champion and that tonight, we will get a taste of some Divas action as the Divas are in action.. Next!

Match Six: Alicia Fox vs Mickie James - ECW Divas match.

Both Divas get a decent response from the crowd, clearly seeing Francine has made them excited and intrigued to know more about this new Diva's division here in the land of extreme. The match is solid with both women putting on a good display and eager to impress. Alicia really shows her mean streak during the match, using his boot to choke Mickie on numerous occasions while also pulling on Mickie's hair at any chance she's given. With Fox in control, she swings Mickie James into the ropes and catches her with a "Tilt-a-whirl back breaker" that sends James yelling in agony. Alicia then runs the ropes looking for her scissors kick but to no success as Mickie moves out the way before sweeping away the long legs of Alicia Fox.

Mickie then urges Fox up before hitting her with the flapjack in the centre of the ring. With the crowd cheering, she sends them into overdrive with her "kip-up", she then begs Fox to get up and as she does, she's nailed with the "Mick Kick" before the three count is scored.

Dreamer Segment: Live footage heads backstage as Tommy Dreamer is shown, walking around the halls, yelling.. "Raven! Where are you? Come out, Raven!" clearly annoyed. Tommy then begins kicking and throwing anything in his way as he continues down the hall and out of the picture.

Main Event: Rob Van Dam vs CM Punk vs Rhyno vs Alberto Del Rio - ECW World Heavyweight Title match.

This match see's Punk and Van Dam as the overwhelming crowd favorites while there mixed on Rhyno and heavily booing Del Rio. The match is an all out war with everyone, fighting everyone. All four men giving it everything to become ECW Champion.

    Match Highlights:
.Face off and traded punches between Van Dam & Punk.
.Punk hitting the GTS on Van Dam as R.V.D. stumbles into a GORE from Ryhno.
.Rhyno missing an attempted GORE and Del Rio reversing it into the Cross-arm breaker.
.Punk on the top rope looking for the Macho Man Elbow drop, Del Rio breaks it up with a jumping spinning heel kick that causes Punk to fall to the canvas and RVD hits Rolling Thunder in the middle of the ring.

Eventually the match comes down to RVD and Punk with both men slinging it out in the middle of the ring, trading punches once more. Both men are clearly exhausted and running on fumes. Punk then looks for a roundhouse kick that Van Dam dodges. Van Dam then fires back with one of his own as Punk moves out of the way. Punk then goes for second "GTS" on Van Dam who wriggles free before flipping Punk onto the canvas with a monkey flip. RVD then scales the turnbuckle before signalling his trademark "R!V!D!" pose as the crowd join in. Van Dam then leaps with the "Five star frog splash" but Punk moves at the last mintue and without a moment to spare, latches in the Anaconda Vice as the crowd watch on. Rob try's to struggle free for a few moments, desperate not to give up, but the pressure becomes too much and Van Dam taps out, declaring Punk as the winner and the new.. ECW, World Heavyweight Champion as the show ends with the crowd cheering and Punk celebrating in the ring.

Round up of News & Rumors:

.It's been announced that the first Episode of the returning ECW was a "great success" with the board "happy" with the figures and ratings it brought in on the WWE Network. People behind the scenes have confirmed that the figures spiked when CM Punk made his surprise return. ECW's known for it's "Hardcore" fan base and following but it's believed that with Punk's appearance, it brought in casual fans who tuned it to see CM Punk.

.Following on the Punk story - His return was a shock to many, with only a limited amount of people "In the know". However Punk's return was not to everyone's liking with some generally annoyed that Punk was able to walk out on the company, then being allowed to return at such a historic occasion to capture the ECW World Heavyweight Championship.

.After the show finished, Raven & Tommy Dreamer could be seen verbally sparring on social media with Tommy asking Raven "Why, just why?" Raven replied with "It's not over, it was never over" It looks like the two rivals are set to do battle once again with answers expected on the second episode.

.Who's behind the Vignette? That's been a question that many are asking. If you ask the fans, many believe it's the Big Show. With the Giant not being currently used on Raw or Smackdown, added to the fact he's a former ECW Champion and this would make sense. Other names have been suggested from Kane to Abyss. The latter unlikely due to being under contract with TNA Wrestling.

.Speaking of TNA, one fan took to social media to ask Bully Ray what he thought about the return of ECW and if it's possible he could one day, rejoin. Here's what he said.. "Never say never, that's what we say in the wrestling business. Right now, I'm happy here in TNA and enjoying life. As for the return of ECW, I loved it. Kudos to the WWE and I'm proud of my ECW family".

.ECW official's today announced that the newly reformed show will indeed have there own PPv's and that they will be starting with the historic event, Barely Legal.

.Following Paul Heyman's words on his "scouting for talent" and "searching the globe" for stars to bring to ECW. We can now confirm this is the case. As of today, we have had confirmation that both Prince Devitt and Chris Hero have spoken to Heyman but as of yet, nothing has been confirmed or agreed. Rumors are that Carlito has also been contacted with suggestions that he could team up with Primo & Epico should they no longer be needed for Raw or Smackdown.

    Return of Extreme Review

The backstage segment to start the show was a great touch- with Hunter not caring about ECW, and I loved what Heyman said to get defensive. Don't matter if it's ECW, it's still coming for Raw & Smackdown's asses!

I don't have a clue who Balls Mahoney or Justin Credible are, as I didn't watch ECW back in the day- but either way good way to start the show with an Extreme Rules match, gotta get that crowd hyped early.

Oh my fucking god- that was a great segment... I marked out for Punk's return. It was done great... with Heyman knowing that Punk is supposed to be here, and warning him.

That is a match I could get excited for, Rob Van Dam vs. Rey Mysterio! I fancied RVD to win too.

Another good segment. I'm hoping that Triple H comes out next week to address the whole situation, that would be interesting to see- Hunter & Punk finally going face to face after what happened.

I'm not complaining about Del Rio being there... Tommy Dreamer was the best man to interrupt though... damn you Raven! Excited to see what the aftermath of that is.

    Cool vignette.

SABU! RHINO! I definitely know them, I've seen Sabu's stuff on YouTube- and his shit is intense. Rhino's just simply a beast. Fair enough seeing Rhino get the win, wouldn't have minded who won this though.

I don't know who Francine is either, so I wasn't all hyped. Considering she's an iconic female in ECW as it says, good to see her back though.

Good match between Mickie James & Alicia Fox- glad to see James get the win. Would've like to see Fox go a bit crazy after the match though!

We got the main event... fuck yeah! CM Punk gets the win! I'm more excited about the shit it's gonna cause though- with the whole situation that he's a Raw superstar, the fact that he left and he's still got a score to settle with Triple H- can't wait for the next show!

Appreciate the review bro! Glad you liked it.

On the Alicia Fox going crazy, that completely slipped my mind and that was something I wanted to do and carry on from the WWE.
    Ah well.. Next time!

Also, I had to research a lot of the ECW stuff. I've only ever watched the WWE, I know all of them on the roster but people like Francine, I had to find out more about myself, so no worries there mate.
