Wow. The poll is split pretty evenly so far. You would think that people would be MORE apt to buy WM, at least.
I, for one, will not be. I will NOT pay $50 plus.
"The Streak", to me, is boring. I don;t think The Undertaker has "it" anymore. Though I am in favor of his rebooted character.
Seeing HHH and The Dead Man is a bit of a "nostalgia" trip for me. But will it be a good match? Is THAT match alone worth getting the PPV?
I'm ALMOST interested in the Miz vs. Cena match... The Miz has grown on me (not that I ever disliked the guy). And I'm hoping to FINALLY see Cena turn heel. (My opinion of what will happen.)
Other than those two matches I really don't have much of an interest in this WM. (Again, I DO love SCSA so MAYBE I'll at least DL it the next day to see what hell he raises.
You can't compare the nowadays programming to the 80's and early 90's, that's unfair. Nowadays WWE has to step up their game every week, back then it was only on PPV and SNME. I do think WWE makes PPV's too expensive for domestic audience and I'm actually happy with the amount of PPV's, because that means I get to see some good wrestling. And you should buy WrestleMania. If you watch WWE you should buy at least WrestleMania, that's the least you can give back.
I'm not sure WHY you think it's "unfair".
Also, you almost contradict yourself by saying that you watch PPVs because you get to see good wrestling. There is PLENTY of good wrestling on TV.
The "best" matches AREN'T on PPV... as they SHOULD be. They ARE some GREAT matches on PPV, no doubt, but there are just as many on regualr TV every week. That's part of the problem. We don't have to order a PPV to see great wrestling, and the one thing that COULD make it worthwhile... The Championship belt... has lost much of it's prestige. I think that the WWE has sort of shot itself in the foot when it comes to PPV buyrates. By putting out such a great product on weekly television they sort of lost the "magic" of PPVs.
Unfortunately it seems WWE's response to that is having "run ins", DQ's, and Twists every week that keep the resolution of the "showdown" from happening until the PPV.
Orton comes out, has a match, gets jumped by Punk.
Punk and Orton have a match, New Nexus gets involved... DQ.
Punk and Orton have Tag team matches against eachother (with another two guys who are feuding)
We don't get the pay off... or a clean win... until the PPV.
It's a TIRED act.
It's the same thing week after week.
I say eliminate all but 4 PPVs. spend 3 months on each.
I, for one, can't stand that there is a PPV EVERY MONTH.
As I said, they all play out like an extra episode of RAW or Smackdown instead of being an EVENT.
I think buy rates are down because a PPV ISN'T a spectacle. It ISN'T an event. It's basically meaningless.
They treat them like a commodity first and an event second.
Too bad for them that people don't want to buy them anymore.
There is no "Must see" moment. It's not a "can't miss it" event.
the next night it's just back to square one and most of the time the events of the PPV have no meaning by the next week.
No... Your reasoning for me to buy WM is that, as a FAN it's the LEAST I can do to "give back"...
That, sir, is ridiculous.
The WWE is a Publicly traded company. The make more money than I can even imagine.
If I want to "give back" as a fan then I'll go to the local show at the Armory or VFW hall.
THAT'S giving back.
The WWE makes plenty of money and so do their "superstars".
I think "Joe Wrestler", who drives 200 miles, busts his ass for 100 fans, and makes $50 is the guy who deserves the fans "giving back".
I'm sure that 99% of the guys in the WWE lockerroom would agree with me.
But I digress.
I will NOT be ordering WM... and I will not be logging on to the EWN until around 9 pm The following Monday.
