I am a bit ignorant seeing as how I am in Australia but surely Obamacare is a good thing, why is anyone against it?
The idea of free Health Care is a grand idea... The attachments and directing of funds to places that are of no benefit to those seeking medical attention and are only in place to make individuals money in the process are what is wrong. Due to the fact that the Government can't say "We are making Health Care free for everyone" and leave it at that, there are MANY underlying points to the bill that help to direct certain assets attained funneled into certain entities.
The questions have been raised about Insurance Policies and if they will now be absorbed into the Government, do Doctors now become Government employees and if they will be paid as handsomely as they have in the past (if not, why would they stay in America)... Questions that those in the medical field (who would be immediately affected) have raised yet have not been addressed. It has stirred enough discouragement from Doctors in my region as to see some of the better doctors who have practiced for years in my area, are now retiring or entertaining the idea of moving to places outside the US. Places where the financial income would be suitable while the practicing of new medicine isn't as crucified by those in the FDA.
The problem isn't that the people don't want free health care for all; it's that they don't want "free health care" to lead to "lesser health care" that also ends up being more costly from a tax payers stand point.
