I often times wish I would have taken a different route in the Marines, but the "cool" thing to do was become a sniper. I was already proficient with a rifle due to my southern heritage, it just seemed the thing to do. I became the "go to guy" when it came to long range shots. Had I not had to have another knee surgery, I was on tap to go back to Afghanistan and help train the Afghan National Army in long range shooting. I was truly honored to get the nod to go, but alas my body wouldn't let me.
Once I have this surgery, I'm going to try and go back. The training job wasn't technically "active" duty so I wouldn't have have such strenuous activities which helps with my limited mobility. Only time will tell I suppose.
