IWA: Insane Wrestling Association - Discussion Thread

IWA was created in September 2012 by Bearkg88, with the help of Vandarius and for a time, no_1eddiefan. This came after a month of closures in the efedding community- starting with HWA, followed by ICW, EWA & the short-lived SRW. Bear was also the man behind ICW and certain aspects of ICW were continued into IWA- with Shaz and Jackson Smith getting to keep hold of briefcases they won at the final ICW PPV, Glory Days. As well as this, Smokey- the authority figure in ICW-continued as the authority figure in IWA. Apart from that though, ICW and IWA were two entirely different federations.

Over the first month, IWA held tournaments and qualifying matches on its flagship show Chaos leading to the very first IWA PPV: Thirst For Blood where three new champions were crowned. Those champions were Damaged Goods as the brand new IWA Tag Team Champions, Kyojin as the IWA Endurance Champion and KJ Punk as the first IWA World Champion.

The following month led to Lost Cause- where AJ Dixon defeated KJ Punk for the IWA World Championship, with the help of Carlos Alberto Ramon, Van Hooligan X and Athena- creating a new stable by the name of The Infection. Also, in the main event- the very first Insane Asylum match, Rob Rage- a stalwart of those feds that closed down- returned to win and claim a shot at the IWA World Championship at Destined For Immortality- IWA’s ‘WrestleMania’ PPV.

Dixon’s title reign was short lived though as The Infection took a massive blow to their chances of ruling IWA when Shaz cashed in his briefcase for a title shot on the very next Chaos- going on to defeat Dixon and become the third IWA World Champion in just two months.

At Full Throttle- the final PPV before Destined For Immortality- efedding legend Jman made his IWA debut and was immediately made Special Guest Referee of the main event at Destined For Immortality, a six-man Hell in a Cell elimination extravaganza called Maximum Anarchy for the IWA World Championship between the champion Shaz, former champions KJ Punk and AJ Dixon, Darius, Insane Asylum victor Rob Rage and HolyJose. Jose soon left IWA and was replaced by Jman himself in the match.

Between Full Throttle and Destined For Immortality, Vivica became the first Vanity Championship when she won a six-pack challenge including Ashley Kid, TeYanna, Pieces Pink, Sugar & Spice.

Destined For Immortality was full of huge moments. Vivica retained her Vanity Championship over Pieces Pink and while Damaged Goods remained as the IWA Tag Team Champions, they did so as the only original champions as Kyojin dropped the IWA Endurance Championship to Mr. Smyth. That wasn’t to be the only time we saw Kyojin- regarded by many as the top face in IWA- that night though, as he appeared after Shaz had retained his IWA World Championship in the Maximum Anarchy match to at first help Jman fight off The Infection, only to turn on Jman and the fans in a huge shock to end the night.

Leading into DFI, Bear recruited the services of BennyTheBall and Torphy to the creative team with a view of starting up a second show after the PPV. However, due to burnout, Bear passed on some of his responsibilities onto Benny and Torphy and as a result, for the meantime at least, it was decided that it was best to stick with the one show. After a few more weeks, Torphy resigned from the creative process and within a few hours of that happening, Bear removed himself from IWA completely.

A new head of the fed was found in BennyTheBall, and with help from Vandarius, Scribbler_Jones and AshleyPunk, the four of them took over IWA and led it into a new era- with Ash in an apprentice role at first, being eased into the creative processing of efedding.

The next PPV was Last Resort, where Shaz once again retained the IWA World Championship over KJ Punk & AJ Dixon, but we did have new champions as The Infection’s Carlos Alberto Ramon and Van Hooligan X defeated Damaged Goods to become the new IWA Tag Team Champions. Also, leading into this PPV- a tournament was held to crown the first IWA Blackout Champion- a title won by Mike Hawk at the event. Vivica also retained as did Mr. Smyth.

Before the next PPV, Bear had already returned behind the scenes- to head up a new show and second brand for IWA as its roster had gotten increasingly bigger. Bear enlisted the help of no_1eddiefan before changing his mind and dropping out entirely. Luckily, Eddie stepped up and enlisted the help of Krysys and Ash to write the show, named Revolution, while Benny, Vand & Scribbs were the trio running Chaos.

The announcement of Revolution was made on the final Chaos before Night of Legends- where a draft took place. Revolution was to be the home of the Tag Team Division whilst Chaos housed the Bombshells and the Vanity Championship. The IWA World Championship became the IWA World Heavyweight Championship as Revolution looked to create its own World Championship- named the IWA Championship.

At Night of Legends though, Shaz retained his IWA World Heavyweight Championship over Chris Divine, while Mike Hawk retained the IWA Blackout Championship over Malcolm Adonis, and The Infection kept their Tag Team Championships over Damaged Goods. In the opening contest, Darius- who was injured in the main event of Destined For Immortality, returned to beat Mr. Smyth in an I Quit Match for the Endurance Championship, making Mr. Smyth quit IWA in the process. Also at Night of Legends, Vivica finally lost the Vanity Championship as Pieces Pink took it from her grasp in a hard fought battle.

Now with Revolution as a fully fledged second brand, the next PPV was guaranteed to see a new champion crowned as the main event of Death By Glory was for the IWA Championship. But before that, we saw Darius retain the IWA Endurance Championship, The Infection retain the IWA Tag Team Championships, Mike Hawk retain the IWA Blackout Championship and Pieces Pink retain the IWA Vanity Championship. Now, before the main event- a triple threat match took place for the IWA World Heavyweight Championship between the champion Shaz, Kyojin and Malcolm Adonis. Adonis left victorious, capturing the IWA World Heavyweight Championship. In the main event, Mr. Blood and Mr. Black, collectively known as Black Blooded, became the first ever co-IWA Champions as they both pinned KJ Punk at the same time.

After this PPV, Dennis joined the creative team in an apprentice role.

The next month led to Uprising, where the match everybody was looking forward to as the very first ever ‘Rafters Match’ between Mike Hawk and Ace Note with the IWA Blackout Championship on the line. After a hellacious match, Hawk walked away with his title reign still intact. Also this night, The Infection once again retained the Tag Team Championships, Pieces Pink retained her Vanity Championship and Black Blooded left as still co-IWA Champions after a Death By Glory rematch and an assist from General Manager David Ryan. There was a new champion though as Oscar Layman dethroned Darius for the IWA Endurance Championship after Archer Black and ultimately a returning Mr. Smyth got involved. Malcolm Adonis didn’t defend his IWA World Heavyweight Championship this night though, instead teaming with Sagittarius Blue in a losing effort to Kyojin and Shaz in the main event.

After Uprising, Krysys stepped down from creative, causing a reshuffle to be necessary. Scribbs jumped from Chaos to Revolution while Dennis was promoted to a fully fledged member of creative on Chaos.

The future is definitely a future to look forward to- and we hope you all enjoy IWA as much as the people who took part in all of these shows did. If you'd like to join IWA, then PM either BennyTheBall or no_1eddiefan.
