    An Uso Push?

So, tonight on Raw there was a match featuring The Uso's going against Prime Time Players. Now this match could have easily been on one of the B shows but it made it onto Raw, so I'm wondering if this is the beginning of a little Uso push? They even sported facepaint, which they may have done, but I have not seen them do thus far.

It's clear that WWE needs to emphasise a few more face tag teams. These guys are likely being either pushed to go against The Wyatt Family or as somewhat credible contenders to The Shields tag team belts. I don't think Hell No are long for this world so someone is going to need to fill the void there.

So, thoughts? Could you buy the Uso's as a credible threat? Or have they been jobbers too long?

The Usos have been tweeting about the Shield for the past few weeks, so I could see the WWE having them feud with the Shield and after a loss being pushed to the back of the line. As for the viability the Usos are one of the few face teams the WWE has right now who are over.
Brad Maddox is the new face of the WWE!

Forget the "few who are over" - I can't think of another regular team of faces besides Tons Of Funk and Hell No - and they're a maybe at best. Are there any others I'm missing?

To me the usos will never be a real threat to the shield. They have jobbed for the entirety of their career whereas the shield has dominated their entire career. To me, I could see them facing the family... but to take the belts off the shield you are going to need two main event talents or a shield member to turn on the group.

Nobody is expecting them to actually win Donny. But if they can put on some decent matches with them, perhaps that will raise their stock to the point where people believe they might accidentally pull it off. Kinda like The Rockers who were eternal underdogs and nobody ever expected them to get over the Hart Foundation or Demoltion. But it was sure fun hoping.

Your OP asked if they could be somewhat credible contenders... and to me the answer is no. If people can't imagine that you'd win and you won't win... you are not a credible threat IMO.

I'm not saying they couldn't put on good or even great matches. I would love to watch those matches but the fact is that they should never beat the shield. The shield beats world champions all the time... The Usos won their first match on raw in recent memory this week... WWE would have quite the mountain to climb to make the usos look credible against the shield IMO.

I see you're drinking the Shield kool-aid Donny. You know they don't actually beat world champions right? That's a bit like saying Tom Cruise always beats the bad guys and saves the world. I think you're over looking or simply not seeing the fact that they can't just keep throwing "former champions" at them. It can't be done. So, where to for your precious story book heroes? Well, now unless you're willing to extend the creative license, you've painted yourself into a corner and you are basically out of options. Well, good luck maintaining your fandom of these guys now that your expectations have lead them down a dead end street.

It's this kind of attitude that has lead to the demise of the tag teams. They started to just throw together 2 singles guys and call them a tag team and this is what people come to expect. They don't realise they are being spoiled and then when the caviar and champagne days are over, they're left wringing their hands and crying in their cornflakes about how tag teams just aren't believable anymore. Of course, not every fan needs to be spoon fed like a fricken vegetable in a wheelchair but while they continue to cater to the mentally unhip, what are ya gonna do? We're just perpetuating a bigger society of idiots.

I'm not drinking the kool-aid and I didn't book it the way that they did. What I am saying is that there is no viable reason that someone in the current tag division who are tag team specialist... should ever beat the shield unless they are booked much tougher than they are right now.

You are right, eventually they will have to move away from defeating main event level talent. That doesn't mean we won't remember that they did that. Where you are wrong is that it has to be a credible threat. Jeff Hardy wasn't a credible threat to the Undertaker during their ladder match on raw in 2002... but it was still one hell of a match up. You can put on great matches even when you clearly can't have one competitor beat the other.

I don't need a super hero in wrestling I just look for consistency on some level. If you book someone as average they shouldn't be able to topple the people you book as the greats. And if they do it must be for a mega push and IMO there is no reason to ever have the Usos get a push over the shield... Again, I'd like to see that match up, I'm just saying no to your OP's question... They are not a credible threat to the shield because they are booked as average. They beat the prime time players, not Bryan and Kane lol.

Well, let me know if you have any ideas about how to book The Shield back from the summit.

So you're basically saying that in your mind they may as well can the Uso's now? Start with someone new? Don't I recall you going in to bat for PTP when they were being booked into oblivion? Where's your team spirit Den Den? Where's that sense of hope you young turks are meant to be famous for? Is it all that shitty Washington weather depressing the crap out of you? We're not going to see a re-emergence of grunge now are we?
