Everyone complains about WWE being predictable and John Cena winning all the time yet everyone watches the same Superman and Batman movies over and over again.
I don't know if anyone has done a topic about this comparison or not, but I'm going to address it anyways.
I personally think the comparison is stupid. Yes. I know when people do the comparison, they are referring to the bland white knight character and the generic routine of the good guy always winning, no matter how badly things get. I understand that. Still, when you look at the characters and compare them, one stands out much more than the other one.
Superman does indeed have a white knight character, but it comes with its dark elements as well. No one questions Superman's inherent goodness cause he is constantly tested to maintain that goodness and does not always succeed. Doesn't anyone find it ironic that in every other universe, besides the "true" one, Superman is evil? Because it is a direct reflection of his struggle to maintain his righteous order and goodness. People question John Cena's inherent goodness all the time because it comes across so fake and phony.
Btw, here is another little fact about Superman ... he doesn't always win! There were times where Superman got his ass handed to him by Batman, Darksied, Lex Luthor, and even the Joker! Granted, Joker used kryptonite, but still. At least when Superman lost, he didn't act like, "I respect you, Lex" or "I respect you, Joker!" No. He hated all those villains and let them know he did, and would have killed them if he didn't have moral values. Cena, on the other hand, force feeds this notion that you have to respect all your opponents, no matter how good or bad they are. Honestly, to me, Cena is more broken than Superman. You can still revamp Superman nowadays and make a good story out of it. You can't do that with Cena in my opinion.
