Remember that Sight & Sound critics poll from a few weeks ago, where Vertigo beat out Citizen Kane for the #1 spot?
Here's the director's top 100 poll results.
The top 10 are below:
1. Tokyo Story (1953, Ozu)
2= 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968, Kubrick)
2= Citizen Kane (1941, Welles)
4. 8 1/2 (1963, Fellini)
5. Taxi Driver (1976, Scorcese)
6. Apocalypse Nwow (1979, Coppola)
7= Vertigo (1958, Hitchcock)
8= The Godfather (1972, Coppola)
9. Mirror (1974, Tarkovsky)
10. Bicycle Thieves (1948, de Sica)
The top ten is a lot more well-rounded than the critics version, I think. (even though I abhor 8 1/2 and think that Mirror pales in comparison to Stalker/Solaris/Rublev)
You can also search for the critic's/director's voting ballots at the above link as well. For example, this
is what Quentin Tarantino voted for.
