Got into a critics screening of Zero Dark Thirty. I was pumped for it because Katheryn Bigelow and Mark Boyle reunited for another military movie (last was Hurt Locker)

lacks the existentialist peril and high drama of that movie but replaces it with tension and truth in the pursuit of drama, with fiction lightly draped over fact. A lot of people were complaining about no backstories or the whole speeches on overcoming hardships and such, but that just makes it more real in my opinion.

4/5, Bigelow might take some more Oscars

its actually a pretty good movie, I watched it not expecting much but I enjoyed it. nice cast who don't step on each others performance and the script is pretty nice.

The movie depends on the type of person though, so it's not for everyone which may hurt it come awards season.

I can see Jennifer Lawrence getting a nomination and maybe a win for best actress but I saw Zero Dark Thirty and Jessica Chastain blew me away.

Crips and Bloods: Made In America.

Outstanding documentary by Stacy Peralta. If you don't know this guy, he is of some renown. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stacy_Peralta

My interest in American gangs led me to this documentary and it is hugely comprehensive. Even if you don't have a particular interest in this subject, it's still fascinating to watch and learn how these gangs came into being. What I like about this is it doesn't get bogged down in the day to day of modern gangs, but dissects their origins and gives you a greater sense of horizon in terms of society as a whole. Educational and sad. 9/10

Its not because your review makes me happy. You only posted the name of the movie. You don't come in a movie thread and throw just the name of the movie. This thread was made for a reason you obviously ignored

And that wasn't actually a review just a very short version of the movie's plot
