Speaking of Realistic look to the Comic world; here's some work from Julie Bell...

    Jean Grey as Phoenix

    HobGob and Spidey

    Silver Surfer
    (From the Marvel Masterpiece Canvas')

    And Storm
Julie Bell was always a fave of mine, as well. These images were ingrained in my psyche as a fourteen/fifteen year old as I had collected the full set of both of the X-Men Fleer cards '94 and '95 pack by freaking pack! . Still have them all too!

Edit: You should definitely look for it on the torrent boards at the very least. Apparently Dangerous Artifacts took Claudio close to two years to get done--mostly due to other commitments, but it certainly isn't one of those comics that could have been done in a month. It's truly a hidden masterpiece.

Brian Hitch is a favorite of mine for a lot of his Marvel work

I prefer Marvel to DC just because it has more interesting characters and storylines in my opinion. Not just the bigger ones, but a ton of mid to smaller range heroes and villains have pretty big followings. Iron Fist is one of my favorites at the moment.

I never appreciated how Black and White imagery can set the tone of an illustration until a friend passed along some of Frank Millers work. A lot of people I have spoken with hate it, but I find some of the images he's created to be pretty remarkable and even breath taking at moments.

It's crazy how fast the series became such a hit when the movie released over a decade after the first story was told in "Dark Horse Presents: 5th Anniversary"

From The Yellow Bastard, to The Big Fat Kill, to 300, to his Daredevil run, to The Dark Knight Returns, I am a massive Miller mark.

His depiction of Marv rates very highly on the Awesometer, though..
