He's the Tim Tebow of Wrestling. Somebody that can't do what they're paid to do very well but have enough of a fanbase to keep them relevant for a few more years. They lead in merch sales despite others being 10X better. Both can draw better than most can. But the difference is Tebow will never win a championship Cena will win 17 title reigns and will probably be the one who retires the Undertaker

(In reply to Cena being a mid-carder) Just wishful thinking for most of us. Hopefully he does something to piss off HHH to make it happen!!!

    Thanks For The Memories

Unfortunately, the time of lengthy title reigns is over as wrestling companies try to keep every type of fan happy by moving titles from one wrestler to another while they're hot, then getting scared that that person will go off the boil and take titles away before it happens. With Cena though, he's the exception, they're confident enough that he'll continue to draw to keep him out of the title picture.....at least until he challenges The Rock for it at WM29. And what's the point of giving him a US or IC title really? What purpose would that serve? He doesn't need it. Maybe the tag titles, if creative get bored.

You got that right I think we will see more Cena main event matches this year than last year or thats the way this year is starting out anyway.

So basically titles meant more in the 80's and 90's then?

I've noticed that as each decade goes by, all pro-wrestling titles seem to lose value/prestige a little more each time. Although there are alot of wrestling fans in the world, the popularity of pro-wrestling is decreasing at a decent rate thus making the Titles mean less. A championship belt's or title's prestige is built upon ratings, popularity, value, and reputation. Bouncing the titles back and forth don't help the matter, and neither does lack of good competition. With that said; you can expect to see Cena in the title hunt this year.

Yeah what Death said. You could probably take titles out of wrestling completely and they'd hardly be missed

i don't think he'll break ric flair's record. he'll definitely break triple h's record, that's for sure. in the next couple of years, either the miz or cm punk will already be the company man, john cena will have two or three more championship runs and will put over future main eventers like dolph ziggler, cody rhodes, and wade barrett. then cena will get the undertaker/shawn michaels treatment, a lighter schedule, and possibly a legends contract, seriously, cena could retire tomorrow in his prime and he'd still have a great hof worthy career.

Apples and aardvarks! Big Show's reign 45 seconds. DB's reign 105 days (joint 3rd longest reign in the last 5 years) and then lost it in a 18 second match.

I'm find it quite amusing how you keep mention Americans that the rest of the world haven't heard of.

Sorry for this language but ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME??????? He has picked up 12 World titles in 8 years and easily has another 8 years left in him. Flair got 16 (recognised) titles. You don't see Cena breaking that record, when he is arguably Vince's top cash cow, over the next 5-10 years? If he only get handed it once every 2 years for the rest of career he'll, sadly, surpass Flair.
