Like the poster being used but hate that unlike the last PPV, no theme was promoted or used for this PPV. I was a big fan of the use of a theme for Money in the Bank and was expecting the trend to continue. Sad to see it did not but am hopeful it might pick up for Survivor Series.
Too much commentary at the start. Took up a full page. I like the normal standard of commentary for PPV's to be the same or just slightly over the ones used for the regular shows. PPV's don't merit a huge wall of commentary for the sake of building up every match.
Reigns gets the win and it's great he do so. Establishing some dominance which fuels his enforcer persona. The use The Rock as his representation in the match, I found funny but in a good way cause they're family so it was a good choice.
Joe cuts a mean, clean promo but I expected more intensity behind it and for him to drop a Joe's gonna kill you reference at the end but that didn't happen. Still good promo.
Magnus gets the win. Giving him great momentum for the right to challenge a championship soon. I liked when alongside Miz, Magnus entered the race for the World title so maybe Magnus can enter the fray to challenge perhaps The Undertaker for the Intercontinental gold. Hopefully this also mean the end of this feud.
Was not expecting The Flock to lose especially with the momentum they've built as unit rather than the one off pairing of Sting and Kaitlyn, though the last Raw proved strength in numbers doesn't always work in one's favor. I'm not sure what this means for the feud. It could be over given the faces won. The Flock could still look to feud with Sting because they felt they should've won here tonight. Kaitlyn and Maria can still feud maybe over the Womens MITB Briefcase.
Ultimately though with this win, I'm just not seeing much of a reason for the feud to continue, other Raven looking to make an example of Sting in a huge way for losing at War Games that would merit a final and I mean final confrontation at Survivor Series be in an extreme one on one setting like a Cage or HIAC Match or forcing Sting to build his forces and face The Flock once more in a Survivor Series style match up. We'll see.
Sweet promo from Daniels. Wrestlingfan really has taken this character and like he does with Hawk, turned into a must see star, where you feel the future for him holds great things and it's only a matter of time before they happen.
SCUM wins but it's bittersweet for me. Since I'm happy for Krysys and his characters winning but am not entirely happy over the 3 superstars they beat especially with Anderson and Taker being on the opposing team. Taker since becoming the Intercontinental Champion has rarely gotten a chance to show why his reign (first IC one I might add (kayfabe)) would be one to remember other than for the fact that he held it for say ? amount of months. He's not defending it on a constant basis to really highlight why really really deserves it and the thing is I know he can (and I think the same can be said about Sheamus, who hasn't defended the gold very often). Taker needs to showcase that while he's champion he can be even more of a Phenom than ever before so I hope he gets a chance to soon.
That said the other main Superstar that suffered from this loss was Anderson, the Nitro MITB briefcase holder. The momentum from winning such an accomplishment alone should've been good reason to help him get another win. Yet, he lost. Making his credibility as a threat to World Champions diminish a bit and for Anderson right now that does not need to happen. The World Champion should be having nightmares about when and where Anderson might cash in and whether his reign is not only safe from his #1 contenders like Kidd's might be tonight facing Lesnar and Miz and then (should he retain) later on SS facing The Rock or Ambrose but from Anderson at any given point in time. I'm just not getting that vibe from Anderson. That needs to change.
Cool promo from King. Liked the the hail the king reference at the end. Could be a great gateway for a gimmick to use where he rules over his competition like a king in battle.
Speaking of Kings....STILL CHAMPS, BITCHES!!!!
Naw, just kidding. Was a great match between The Kings and The UK's McIntyre and Regal. This win only adds fuel to the fire that things may not be over between these two teams, so I'm looking to see how The UK get another title shot or whether or not some other teams will soon enter the fray to become the Tag Champs.
Stellar promo from Styles. Given his X-Division history and history with most of the competitors in the match, you knew Styles had a lot to say heading in War Games and that he did. Out of the 4 competitors' promos tonight, Styles was the best and if this was the basis as to how a winner would be decided, I can see him see winning the gold easily.
Daniels!!! Great win for Daniels. Glad he's the X-Division champ but I side with Jelly in the regards that seeing Reigns help him get the win was not something I wanted to see. As to me it took away some of the credibility Daniels had to make it on his own and have the win be all because of him before having Reigns celebrate with him and then massacre the rest of the X-Division competitors post match as a sign of more dominance aside from his win against Hurricane and also send a message that Daniels reign will be enforced by him while he's at Daniels' side rather than saying Daniels can pretty much only win some of his big matches with outside help. Still fantastic win for Daniels and congrats to wrestlingfan.
Lita retains in a great Womens match. I'm glad she pinned Nattie, not for the sake of having not been Paige the one being pinned but because in this match and in the weeks leading up to it Nattie seemed to be the odd woman out. She wasn't really in a place to really show she should've been in the match other than by the ruling of Shane O'Mac to perhaps much like the Miz/Kidd scenario where it was face vs face and Lesnar was added in to give them a heel to work with, this match might've been in need a face in it to not make it a heel vs heel match.
EHC had Nattie on high standards once the Road to Triumph began months ago but since then has been losing her star quality and some promos suffered for it, an example the 3 way promo done between all of us competitors in this match on Nitro a couple of weeks back were vs Lita and Paige, Nattie's bit just seemed weak in comparison. Nattie to me, and I'm sorry if I offend EHC for it, had to be the one to be pinned and hopefully through this she can grow more as a character and really get her up to the level where Nattie can and should be with time. Now the road is clear to have Lita defend against Paige, who can argue since she wasn't pinned deserves a shot or for another Diva to enter the fray and give Lita, a great challenge.
This match I was actually expecting to closeout the show...
Naw. Felt like it though. Great action throughout it all. The turn by Shane and Ambrose winning, now leaving The Rock out of the WWE (for the time being...) were all great moments. This gives some closure to the premiere feud in the feds and now Nitro has more bang for it's buck with Ambrose and Shane working together. Deadly combination for sure. Given the insanity by Ambrose and the now support by management to do as he pleases (which he did anyways but now...) means very interesting things for Nitro.
Kidd remains champion. I half expected it given that Ambrose won. So I knew it probably wouldn't Lesnar who won but it was going to be a face facing Ambrose in my mind. Seeing Kidd retain only cements his legacy as a champion even more so by slaying The Beast that is Brock Lesnar once more before having his arm raised in respect by Miz, a former World Champion in his own right to really symbolize he's earned the respect of those in Nitro and perhaps even the WWE as a whole. Kidd needs to bring out all the stops now because if Lesnar, Edge and recently Miz have made some especially me question whether his reign would continue...it will be Ambrose who will truly put him to the test in that regard.
Now the main reason for this PPV to be. The War Games Match. Team Teddy vs Team Eve. I will say I'm not happy with Team Eve winning. Not because it's my characters or Eddie's or Des' losing but because like Eddie gladly pointed out and we discussed (as soon we saw the finish of the PPV) the idea of 2 heel General Managers just isn't something to look forward to. Plus the idea that both GM's are backing the biggest heels of their respective brands (even though Eve clearly states she's all about being "fair" and not being in cahoots with Jericho...pffft, yeah right!) just makes them in essence mirror images of one another and makes Raw and Nitro seem unoriginal in the management/top heel regards when they were basically fighting to be different and better than the other for so long or so we've been led to believe. I'm sorry but that's the way I see it. If the Shane O'Mac turn was coming...the best decision to me was to keep Raw with a face GM and that meant victory for Team Teddy. That's not to say Glamour Girl, Tommy, Vand, Niall and Shaz didn't deserve the win, they do. It just was not the right decision to me as a viewer to see Team Eve win.
The PPV overall, I enjoyed somewhat but too many decisions that I personally did not agree just soured the experience a bit too much to really enjoy it as I would've wanted especially with heel GM's with their golden boys aspect being the thing that really almost does not make me want to see what Raw and Nitro have to offer in their World title/management areas. We'll see how that goes.
Survivor Series. I'm truly looking forward to. It means great Survivor Series style matches. Ambrose vs Kidd. The crowning of a new WWE Champion. One of the WWE's biggest PPV's. A lot of great things to come for sure.
This PPV gets a B+ from me.
