War Games review
The opening post being entirely commentary was too long for me, and there's no need to build SO MUCH to every single big match. Needed to be shorter in my opinion.
The opening match was good- a decent opening match and Reigns picking up the win was the right choice. Dennis has evolved Reigns to include The Shield's gimmick alone and I really enjoy it. Can't wait to see where he goes from here.
Samoa Joe's promo was good, built up to the match well.
Magnus-Goldberg was a good match, and Magnus was definitely the right choice for victor.
The Flock-Sting & Kaitlyn was another great match- and Sting & Kaitlyn winning may signal the end of this feud. Where The Flock goes from here will be interesting to see.
Christopher Daniels promo was great- WF has done a fine job with him since his debut.
Now the next match I wasn't that much into beforehand, and I will say this- Taker needs to defend his Intercontinental Championship on PPV, especially considering the WWE Championship and United States Championships weren't defended, so for this opportunity to have been missed was something I felt a bad call. Steen picking up the win was very obvious to me and a few others judging by the prediction contest. Hoping to see SCUM get more direction from here.
Kenny King promo was good, and again- built up to the match well.
KOW-UK was probably the worst written match up to this point- purely for the amount of commentary to action ratio involved. Too much talking in my eyes. Regardless, the right team won.
AJ Styles promo was great- the best TTC promo I have ever seen- and I like the fact that all 4 men in the X-Division race spoke. I will say this though, I don't like how all 4 men are so integrated in real life with the X-Division- and are 4 guys you would immediately put with the X-Division. Would have been good to have seen somebody else in there from WWE- but I suppose that's what the X-Division is about. The match itself was a great match and I've gotta say that the right person won- WF deserves this title with no doubt. What a night for Reigns & Daniels.
The Womens Championship match was a great match, and I'm happy you guys saw fit to keep me as Champion- gotta be doing something right (although most people don't see that with Niall forgetting my promos so much
) I'm also happy Nattie was the one to lose the match, as EHC has been poor with her recently, and it opens up the Anti-Diva vs. Anti-Diva feud between Lita & Paige.
The Rock-Dean Ambrose. First and foremost, this feud is my pick for Feud of the Year. When I first came up with the idea, I thought that THBK & Torphs would give us a brilliant feud but it's been exceptional from start to finish. This match was no different. This was the best match of the night. Fantastic writing. Shane turning heel I did like but then I didn't, I'll get onto that later- but the right man won. Torphs has been the top heel on Nitro since before he debuted, he deserves that World Heavyweight Championship and I'm hoping Ambrose gets it at Survivor Series. Also, where does The Rock go from here? Because it may have been Loser Leaves WWE but I guaran-damn-tee Rocky will be back.
Tyson Kidd retains the World Heavyweight Championship. This I liked, as it looks set to lead to the massive babyface Kidd against the massive heel Ambrose. I also liked the post-match bit with Miz & Kidd, perhaps a heel turn in future for Miz? It's been teased over the past few weeks. Also, I'm glad to see Brock is now out of the title picture. He needs to do something away from the World Heavyweight Championship in my eyes.
The main event was a fantastically written match and had Rock-Ambrose not been SO good earlier on in the night, it would have won best match. Now, while I understand that Team Eve winning opens up all kinds of storylines, I didn't like it. Now I know that I probably sounds like I have sour grapes here but it's not. I would have enjoyed Team Eve winning a lot more had Shane not turned heel earlier in the night. Two heel GMs? I don't like that, I think one has to be face or at least not have an alignment at all. With Eve in Jericho's back pocket and Shane in Ambrose's, it means that Raw and Nitro are going to be very similar in the fact that the two top heels will be running things, and I'm not sure how I feel about that.
Also, something I really REALLY dislike about this fed is the way you guys do pinfalls. For most matches you'll put...
Don't put the 3. It looks like the person has won and immediately can cause confusion. I thought Miz was WHC twice because of this, I thought others had the matches won when the matches were happening and overall it got majorly confusing to me.
Overall, a good show- not up to the standard of some of your other PPVs and to me, there were too many negatives for me to give you an A, so B+, and I'm looking forward to the fallout.
