I hope his last match is a Buried Alive match, with Taker being put to rest for good.
With all the news about Taker being banged up and we all agree he should call it a day and leave with the 20-0 in tact. He has been an absolute legend and has nothing left to prove to anyone and for the sake of his future health he should call time to his in ring position within WWE!
But I think keeping him as a manager type role will be pretty good! I think if he goes WWE need a new dark character and the Undertaker could help this... So I was thinking of having the Undertaker have an aprenetice that he could say he has been training showing him the way of the dark side perhaps?
The character thou would be very different to the Undertaker. I was thinking of a character called the Nightmare, basically he just gives other WWE superstars nightmares, freaks them out basically, appears from nowhere kind of thing! I think the promos etc could be epic! I dunno just an idea let me know your thoughts!
He should retire whilst he can still enjoy some quality of life; that said though I feel like he might not be able to let go
I think you could have him manage The Ascension, the gimmicks fit and they seem like a solid tag team.
Add to that, one half of the current Tag Team champions is the Undertaker's story line brother and you have something to build a feud around.
I like the idea of Undertaker in a managerial role. I remember saying he should take over as GM of WWECW before they ended it. It's been a while since WWE created any character with "super powers" like The Undertaker or Kane so it would be interesting to see if they could do that again in the age of smarter fans and less kayfabe, not convinced by your Nightmare character but then if you tried to pitch me a half dead mortician who draws his power from an urn that would sound silly too.
Well, thank god for the OP to clue me in on what we all agree on! Fuck that, I want UT to keep smashing his body to pieces for my amusement! I think we can all agree that if it's not happening to us, it's OK. ;)
Anywho....not sure if UT is manager material. He's never cut the best promos - he's been OK, but I wouldn't want to see him in a situation where he had to rely on that. The goozle only gets you so far.
If old man Calloway has to give it up, he's a good run. (get it?) Few get to go out the way they want and fewer still know when to give it up. Whatever he decides, I'll be happy for him.
Not to sure about a new " undertaker" character as Im not sure in todays day and age it is possible to have a wrestler who is dead, a vampire or speaks to satan escape the mid card much like mordecai or gangrel failed,
however it is possible to create a wrestler and give him a mysterious aura, a more current gimmick and slowly build him to the main event and create a fan following of his own, the less is more concept would work much better a bit like stings crow character in 96..it was not ever hinted he was dead or could do supernatural things but still gave fans goosebumps when he turned up.
Being the undertakers "apprentice" would be too much pressure for any young wrestler in todays day and age he would have the john cena stigma instantly (fans feeling like he is being shoved down our throats to soon) I dont feel it would work.
My idea would get a frustrated superstar (jack swagger maybe?) let the wrestler become a silent vigilante who hates the "wwe system" as he felt that the fans and the company promised him the world and dropped him suddenly to a jobber position. he could be being paid off by various heels to destroy the faces before a match, stalk wrestlers backstage, subtle hints he has been possesed which could be down to selling his soul for another chance at the big time, he litterally become uncontrollable, all his matches end in dq because he dont draw the line with his violent outbursts and go from there.
as I write this idea I still see "mid card" written all over it but thats the closest I can think off.
As far as the mid card your thinking of I think the draw of the character just picking off victims could eventually see him rise the roster in terms of people he begins to stalk/give nightmares as he gains more following from the wwe fans! helping faces perhaps just appearing like taker does when the lights go out etc!
He doesn't even have to come out with the Undertaker or have him just learning the trade from the undertaker and over time due to promos etc he would gain confidence, but I do agree the wrestler would have to be pretty confident to be able to get the character over to the fans! With twilight etc I'm sure a character like this would work really well!
