Another Indy tourney I used to buy each year was JCW's JCup. That also featured the cream of the indies, plus some I never thought would make it such as Rob Eckos (Robbie E). The 2002 (I think) show was my first real look at CM Punk and Colt Cabana. Both clearly had something even then.

My first look at Petey Williams and MDogg20 was on a BOTB show. MDogg was crazy agile back then. I don't know if you've ever seen the original Backyard Wrestling VHS' but there's a very young MDogg20 on volume one doing balcony dives at his school gym. The BOTB with Petey had Jack Evans and Teddy Hart on the card and was probs my second favourite of them. That Homicide was also in it didn't hurt either.

I had no idea what time that show was starting so I got there extremely early. He was cool as anything, and I made him laugh by telling him I knew he was going to lose to AJ later that night because he'd recently beat him at a SuperShow Alex Shane had put on. Frontiers Of Honor was the greatest live show I've ever seen--Daniels vs Fleisch, Joe vs The Zebra Kid (brother of Paige).. Paul London, Mikey Whipwreck, LowKi and others were in matches too. Alex Shane was part of a sick brawl, but the real highlight was seeing Birchill DECIMATE two guys. Wow, he was something else back then. Standing one man Spanish Fly, standing shooting star, over the top rope dives. SICK! Shame what happened to his career. Try find it if you've never seen it, I'm on camera a few times as well lol. Hard to believe it was over ten years ago now... I'm getting old!

I saw every Ted Petty Invitational there was. I seriously loved them damn things. 2004 being the best of them by far, but all of them were something to write home about, and I loved that they featured the new guys who were destined for greatness. I remember seeing a young Kamikaze Ken Anderson in one of the very earlier ones.

BotB was awesome as well, and 2013 is the only one I haven't seen. BotT II was my favourite, though, and was the first time I got to see Super Dragon and B-Boy in action. However it was Jodie Fleisch and Jonny Storm that absolutely stole that show, making up for the lacklustre match they had at RoH's Road To The Title show a few days prior to it. I actually got to meet Jonny Storm by chance about 4 hours before the famous RoH/FWA show at York Hall in Bethnal Green.

Getting to catch up on PWG as well, of which I watched a grand total of zero shows last year. Currently watching Ten. AR Fox vs Michael Elgin? Yes please. Talk about an interesting dynamic.

Up next is BOLA. I've not missed one of them since like 08 it something.

The first one I ever saw was ECWA Super 8 2001 I think. LowKi vs American Dragon finals was amazing for its time. Another excellent tourney from that year was the one and only King Of The Indies. The talent involved in that was insane. LowKi, Danielson, Spanky, AJ, Daniels, Joe, Doug Williams, Bison Smith... Man, to think it was almost thirteen years ago is crazy to think about.

I am a total mark for Indy tournaments, though. Have been since like 2001. I've literally seen about a hundred, and have always found them the perfect place to scout new talent. Obviously this one isn't about the new talent, but it's definitely worth the watch. Plus, Nigel McGuinness on commentary is a bonus.

Yup, that's the one. Nice little event with some solid action. All those high fliers and not one major botch. I was very impressed with what I saw.

I had been initially excited by the prospect of it, and it definitely didn't disappoint.

Ah, thanks! It's the handiwork of Krysys though, he does all posters for us, since he has an interest in graphic design as a hobby

Bound for Glory - A Must See PPV

by Darkside Ron Garvin on 10-17-2013 at 01:44 AM

Bound for Glory should have a different name this year. This PPV is what I think we will see as a moment of reference in time about 2 years down the road. It has the potential to be the moment we remember as the final nail or the road to redemption. This PPV should be known as TNA’s Turning Point.

2012 was a year filled with a LOT of events for TNA; several

The IWC Shouldn't Be A Place Where Great Ideas Die...

by Darkside Ron Garvin on 06-10-2013 at 03:39 AM
It’s been a while since I wrote on the How to Regain a Loyal Fan series. Being that I am OCD of sorts, I don’t like the idea of leaving this unfinished. However, I made a bit of an error in my 12 critical points and even writing the title to this blog made me cringe a bit. If you want to know what they are, simply follow the links to my other blogs to understand what I laid out over a year

Top Feud in Wrestling Currently.

What do you think of when you hear “best feud going in the wrestling business today”? Does the idea of CM Punk vs. The Undertaker come to mind? Is it Redemption vs. Greatness that you think about? Perhaps you think about Bully Ray vs. Hulk Hogan, S.C.U.M. vs. ROH, or CZW wrestlers vs. Law Enforcement Officials. No matter what comes to mind first, there is a number 1 feud that immediately pops

How to Regain a Loyal Fan - Pt X

by Darkside Ron Garvin on 09-02-2012 at 03:36 AM
Raw is now 3 hours each week. Unfortunately it has more time spent in commercial break than it does on action in the ring. The thing that gets me is that I don’t understand how people can still call WWE a “wrestling program”. To me, WWE (minus NXT and FCW) is what I have been trying to distance myself from for the majority of my wrestling fandom; A Male Soap Opera. I love the, to quote Shane

Bret Hart vs. Steve Austin at WrestleMania 13. Yes, I started this week’s blog with a fragment, but my point is sound. If you want to know why and how blood can be used in a way to further character development, enhance an angle, and help build a megastar, look no further than this example. The image of Austin’s last bit of strength being exerted to power out of the Sharp Shooter
