Why TNA does NOT need Paul Heyman.......

Rate this Entry
Before I begin, let me start by saying I believe Paul Heyman is a creative genius, Paul Heyman is a visionary and Paul Heyman is one of the greatest minds in pro wrestling history. However..............................

I have read so many TNA "fans" going on and on about how Heyman would save TNA, and about how TNA needs Heyman, but my question is this...... Does TNA need saving???

Lets consider some facts shall we my fellow wrestling fan. First off, the ratings for iMPACT! in the USA are increasing (i admit slowly) and over here in the UK the viewing figures show that iMPACT! often beats WWE RAW and constantly beats Smackdown, NXT, and all the other programs that VKM puts out. Considering these facts, does TNA need Heyman?

The storylines in TNA over the past several months have been exciting, intriguing, and intelligent (ev2.0, abyss/them, sting/nash alliance, hogan/bischoff/JJ conspiracy to name but a few). Does TNA need this side of the product saving?

The matches over the past several months have also been amazing to say the least, with the MCMG vs Beer Money series springing to mind, along with Angle vs AJ, Joe vs Hardy, RVD vs Abyss and many more. I guarantee you would not see wrestling like that in WWE. Does this need saving?

TNA is currently a profitable company, making more money than it is leaking. Did ECW ever make a profit??
TNA wrestling is only 8 years old and has way more fan awareness than ECW did, and i dare say more awareness at this early stage than WWE and WCW had at their respective 8 year stage. If TNA is this big after just 8 years, where could it be in another 8 years? another 12 years? 20 years? the possibilities are endless.

And where was Paul Heyman throughout all of this? Where has Paul. E been for the last 8 years? not in TNA thats for sure.
TNA has grown massively, both in stature and in production, without Paul Heyman, and it will continue to grow, with or without paul Heyman.

Would Paul Heyman be good for TNA? yes
Would TNA benefit from Paul's experience, ideas and knowledge? of course
Does TNA need Paul Heyman? Hell no!!!!!

Thanks for reading guys, feel free to leave comments/feedback.

I've got to agree with you, I would have rather seen Heyman brought into TNA instead of Hogan and Bischoff late last year however that didn't work out that way, the thing is, a lot of TNA fans delude themselves into thinking that they are only one good move away from saving all the time, only one good signing away from conquering the ratings and only one good signing away from breaking the WWE's dominance.

Looking at it honestly, TNA where doing fine without Bischoff and Hogan, I'm glad they arrived though as they got rid of the 6 sided ring, and brought guys to the table like Mr Anderson, RVD and Jeff Hardy, I fully believe these guys HAVE improved TNA, however they tried to do too much too soon and it hurt them, now TNA are back to an average rating they where getting BEFORE Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff rode in on their Big White Horse.

The thing is, TNA don't need a saviour, what in my opinion they need is time, they have invested a lot of time and a lot of money in some very big names, but they need to give these big names a chance to settle into their characters and they need to see out rivalries and feuds, Mr Anderson is a prime example, he should never have been turned face after how well his introduction was to Total Non-Stop Action, however he was turned face all the same, Tommy Dreamer has came into the company and is now booking the shows but he like the majority of people feel Anderson is better off as a heel, but constant heel/face turns will do the guys character more damage than good long term.

Change can be good sometimes but people and ideas need time to breath and time to develop, rash booking and constant backstage changes will not do the long term product any favours as WCW from 1999-2001 proved.

I'd not be against Paul Heyman going to TNA Wrestling, but if he did go then Bischoff and Hogan and Russo would need to be ousted and Heyman whether he is a short term success or not would have to be allowed time to develop the product, the characters and the storylines, if not then what? who next will be lined up as the possible saviour? Shane McMahon?

Considering most of the money being made is in PPV sales and the rumored lows they receive, yes.

Reading from the results alone, their "Whole F'N Show" was a lot better then "HardCore Justice" because that was promoted better and people who never experienced ECW during it's prime knew who were wrestling (and I've seen the Whole F'N Show and loved the matches that were on there).

What they need to do is to build their PPVs better, make people want to buy the event and give them more money then all of their merchandise can produce. Make it so that you have to be a fool to miss the PPV. The last time I bought a TNA PPV (and the first time) was because they mentioned they were bringing in Tiger Mask to their PPV.

What's more, the X-Division (the people who brought me into TNA in the first place) are rarely shown now. When was the last time the X-Division title was defended? And also some of their decisions are mind boggling... Breaking up LAX? Getting rid of Petey Williams? Christopher Daniels? Amazing Kong? Homicide? Hiring people who are mostly known for, as some people will call it, garbage wrestling?

DID YOU KNOW: TNA is shown on free television in the UK whereas WWE is shown on pay per month channels..... know all the facts before spreading half assed ones!

    Storylines? EV 2.0 = WWE/ECW, Abyss/Them = Kane/them/mask/may 19th, Sting/nash = WOLFPAC AGAIN.... it's all repeated

TNA tried to go head to head and FAILED
TNA try to sell pay per views and FAIL
TNA try to sign decent contracts and FAIL (where's RVD gone? their number one guy hasn't got a full year contract)

And would paul heyman have fired the actual TNA guys in favor of wwe castaways.... not all of them, orlando jordan wouldn't have that gimmick, hogan's buddies wouldn't have run the joint.

TNA DOESN'T DESERVE PAUL HEYMAN....FULL STOP

TNA is not shown on free tv in the uk, its on Bravo, which is only available via subscription services (sky/virgin etc). Also iMPACT! is shown on a saturday night, which is when a lot of people are either out or watching "match of the day" (soccer).

All of those similarities you mentioned could be said about 90% of storylines from the last 10 years (in all wrestling companies), the majority of todays storylines are revamps/reboots of old storylines, thats not new, and its not just TNA!!

TNA doesn't make most of their money from PPV's they get most of their money from spike who pays them to be on Spike PPV buyrates realy dont matter to TNA Money wise

And also all storyline are rehashed now so saying that the TNA storylines are all wwe ( Which is not true) makes you sound like a complet mark who knows nothing. Heyman was a booking genies but after being away for five years I doubt he still has it he was lacking when he was booking Smackdow and TNA would be stupid to give this what he is asking for the risk overways the reward with Heyman at this point
