Booking Challenge: Summerslam 2013

Rate this Entry
Booking Challenge has returned and the topic is: Summerslam 2013! The biggest ppv of the Summer and WWE's 2nd biggest ppv according to WWE. We all know some of the rumored matches, but the point of the booking challenge is simple. The critics out there who are upset with the product like they constantly are will take this challenge and leave their Summerslam 2013 card. Now, I'm booking my card based on if I was given the keys to the car. I have posted my card in the comment section while others posted theirs earlier. I tried to stick with everything I had previously sticking with about 7 matches which is what has been common in recent years at the event.

pre-show: Battle Royal for #1 contender's match for the US title on Raw or next ppv-Likes of Big Show, Barrett, Christian, among others should make this a great battle royal to see. I decided it was best to have Ambrose included in the Taker/Kane match because he has been the one really mocking the deadman over the last few months. It probably will be Christian vs Ambrose at the ppv, but this is how I'd book Summerslam 2013.

RVD vs Ryback-Ryback costs RVD the WWE title MITB ladder match. Everyone in Philly were on their feet thinking the whole fn show would leave with the prize, but Ryback was hungry. Boos across the arena as Ryback pushes the ladder over and attacks RVD. Explaination certainly isn't the outfit. RVD stole his spot in that match. RVD just came back thinking he is going to take Ryback's spot. It should have been him in the WWE title MITB ladder match. Not RVD!! Chuckles whole fn show.....the whole fn show is going to be canceled at Summerslam.

Sheamus vs Orton-Orton wins and looks to challenge Cena for the WWE or world title down the line. Turns on Sheamus at some point possibly at MITB. The idea of why, my best guess is Orton believes he has been patient waiting for his oppurtunity too long. It is time for Orton to get back on top back to winning world titles. He admits he watched Sheamus's run claiming he wasn't a great world champion because he was never given a 1 on 1 world title match during his world title run which begins the feud of course.

Divas title: AJ (C) vs Natalya-Hart history at the event isn't mentioned enough. Perfect opponent for AJ at Summerslam is Natalya without question. Natalya plans on leaving her mark at the same place her family has in the past by winning the Divas title at Summerslam from AJ. Natalya has the sharpshooter locked in and Big E pulls AJ out of it as the ref calls for a DQ or AJ simply gets counted out as fans boo.

Henry vs HHH-To keep the momentum of the retirement promo going, I suggest Henry start a feud with HHH. The head man right now taking it personally for the way he tricked the WWE universe. Talks about all the great sendoffs on Raw which include Flair and HBK is a slap in the face to their retirements. Henry wins here obviously and proclaims that he will be the one who will be announcing HHH's retirement on Raw the night after Summerslam.

Tag titles: Shield (C) vs Taker/Kane-3 on 2 tag match for the tag belts. I was thinking about doing it for both belts or do what Demolition did back in the day choosing between the 3 to compete. I think it is best to make it 3 on 2 just for the tag belts. Especially since the issue is with all 3 members of the Shield. Not just the two and Ambrose has been the one mocking Taker. Just makes the most sense here. Obviously, Shield wins this match.

World title: Dolph Ziggler (C) vs Daniel Bryan-I know many will be upset with how I booked the world title match not including Del Rio or including Bryan in the WWE title match. This is just the way I'd book Summerslam though. I don't figure it will end up this way....figure we will get that triple threat ladder match including Swagger with Del Rio and Ziggler. Should be a good match which would end in some stupid DQ or countout to continue it to the next ppv.

WWE title: John Cena (C) vs Brock Lesnar vs CM Punk vs Axel-rather have Punk/Lesnar at WM. So how to set this up? WWEs worst nightmare will come true at Summerslam when Brock Lesnar wins the WWE title. Punk however believes he deserves a shot more so than Lesnar because he is the best in the world. Heyman asks Cena to accept a challenge vs all of Paul Heyman's clients to prove he is truly a fighting champion. There is no way Cena is walking out with the WWE title facing all my clients in one match. WWE's worst nightmare will come when one of his clients walk out WWE champion!! Cena does win obviously pinning Axel.

WWE title: John Cena(C) vs Daniel Bryan-John Cena has overcome the odds again, but wait....Daniel Bryan's music hits and fans are chanting YES! YES! YES! as Daniel Bryan makes his way to the ring to challenge for the WWE title after winning MITB last month. Instead of the ending we all thought we would have, we have a Daniel Bryan cash in. John Cena is standing up holding the WWE title. Finish, John Cena attempts to hit the Attitude Adjustment, but Daniel Bryan counters into the no-lock. Result: Daniel Bryan won the WWE title from John Cena!!

There you have it!! That is how I'd book Summerslam 2013!! Like the card? Are you up to the challenge? How would you book Summerslam 2013? Leave that and more in the comment section below. Thanks for reading!

I don't believe they will have that many matches. However, love the card you got there. Maybe I should have stuck with the original rules for the booking challenge max 10 matches. I was just ripped for my Summerslam card I posted on another blog which is why I did what they said, have about 7 matches like they had in recent years at Summerslam.

Sadly I believe you are right. I don't believe he is one of the possible winners. I like Cody though, but not as much as other guys in that match especially Sandow. I felt as if he has held Sandow back by having them form as a tag team.

This is the point of booking challenge. I don't want to see all these so called rumored matches or the ones that are scheduled to take place. I want to see their ideas on paper. How would you book Summerslam 2013? I don't expect most of my card to happen to be honest. It is just how I'd book Summerslam 2013. What do I think will happen?

    Cena vs Bryan WWE title
    Orton vs Sheamus
Triple threat ladder match for world title: Dolph vs Del Rio vs Swagger
    Punk vs Lesnar
Shield vs Taker/Kane or Sheamus/Orton tag titles
Christian vs Dean Ambrose US title
RVD vs Axel for IC title or Ryback
Divas title AJ vs ?.....that is probably what is going to happen. Why would I bother having a booking challenge if everyone puts the same rumored matches? No fun or challenge at all in it.

I expect too that Swagger will be in the mix some how since he returned. I actually expect him to win the MITB match so....

Huh, I thought he had one at Summerslam, but it was dubbed no dq match. I'm just the type of guy who likes to build from there. I'm thinking the names are enough to sell their first match one on one. They may add a stipulation. Hell, Heyman maybe the special ref.

You are higher on Rhodes than I am. I agree with you on the Swagger cash in being terrible. It ranked high on my blog hyping MITB last year. Top 5 best and worst MITB cash ins. It was high like 1 or 2 on the worst list. I do however seeing Sandow and Rhodes breaking up soon after MITB. I'm a huge Sandow fan so you know who I want to win that feud. I think it is time for Cody to turn face.

Thanks for leaving your card by the way and reading this piece. I may edit and leave the link to my top 5 best and worst MITB cash ins just in case you want to see it.
Ah this is quite a shocker. Thanks for bringing this to my attention TheGreatOne. You would think since this is the no 2 ppv of the year it would have a similar amount of matches compared to wm. How odd. Lets hope for at least 8 matches this year.

Here's how i see the participants in the whc mitb.

Swagger - won it before and shouldn't win it again. TBH I don't really understand the hype behind Swagger. He just seems a standard mid carder to me.

Ambrose - Too early and hes just got US championship. It makes no sense to me, I love the shield but its an easy way out to keep them relevant giving Ambrose the briefcase. I want to see want the shield can really do to keep going as a group.

Barrett - For some strange reason wwe booked him really bad since winning the ic championship. Really you would've thought he'd thrive with it but it just messed him up big time. If they hadn't done this then I would've said him but he needs to get himself sorted out before he is even considered.

Fandango - Fuck no. What the hell has he done? A month ago he was slated to win the IC title but had a concussion causing Axel to benefit. Really he doesn't deserve to be in this match. Really speaking Ryback should be in it. The only reason he's not i'm guessing is cos he actually really needs a win and lucky for him jericho is going on tour so he can actually finally get one.

Antonio Cesaro - Love this guy. He's awesome and a great heel. They kind of ruined him with the end of his us reign and the yodeling shit but now seems like he's back on his way up with colter. I will however say that zeb as a mouthpiece seems to be doing a lot more for cesaro than it has done for swags. He is definately a future whc in my eyes its just a bit early for him to win mitb yet. Maybe next year.

Now for my two favorites. Yes I am high on Rhodes. I think he is uber talented and I loved his character whem he faced mysterio at wm27 was it? that dashing cody rhodes was a load of bullshit. Mysterio breaking his nose at that time was probably perfect timing. The paper bag thing was quite genius actually. However believe it or not i am actually a bigger fan of sandow. He is much better on the mic than Rhodes and almost equally as talented in the ring. The only reason I have him as my second favourite is cos he is yet to win any mid card title. Unlike cody who is multiple tag and ic champ. In a way he is yet to pay his dues by winning one of these titles making him less ready than cody.

It is very rare that the first title any superstar wins is the world title, that includes the legends of this industry.

    Rock Ic
    Austin (wcw us and tag)
    hhh european (i think)
    bret tag
    cena us
punk ecw (i think) or ic
    d bryan us
    ziggler ic
    orton ic
    ...

The only names that i can think of to do this are sheamus, big show and lesner and they were all built up as straight to main event beasts which sandow doesn't belong to.

I also tell you why I think Rhodes will get it rather than Sandow. Your just have to look at Raw in my eyes with the way rhodes lost to cesaro with a neutralizer out of nowhere sort of. Sandow was like wtf and proper disgusted. Rhodes has kind of been booked like the weak link if you like recently with Sandow almost carrying him. The cracks are starting to show and Sandow will continue to start believe more than rhodes is beneath him. So when rhodes wins it will be a big surprise to everyone especially Sandow and this is where he snaps. Full of rage and jealousy that he couldn't get the job done yet the pathetic so called weak link cody rhodes who is beneath him managed it. So either at the end of the ppv or on raw sandow attacks rhodes screaming "How dare you. (x2) I should be mr mitb. I carried you. I made you relevant. You don't deserve it!"(x2) (while slapping rhodes across the face). He then holds up and points to the briefcase "This is mine"(x2) and knocks out rhodes with a shot to the head. He then breaths heavily into the mic for a few seconds and then looks up. "You're Welcome!" and throws the mic to the floor and exits.

I hope that explains it. Usually the guy who wins mitb isn't booked usually only that well going into it. Also there are rumors that cody is due a face turn and it would benefit both superstars to split and make more sense for sandow to be the heel.

Pre-Show: Ambrose d. Christian to retain the US title. Christian will not win the briefcase and has begun feuding with the Shield already. I expect his feud to continue up until SS where he will put Dean over.
    1. AJ d. Layla to retain the Divas title. My guess is the only reason Layla is now serving as a valet for Kaitlyn is so that she and AJ can begin a feud after MITB. Perhpas AJ will embarrass Kaitlyn so badly at MITB, that her new best friend Layla will try and seek revenge only to fall short.
    2. Curtis Axel d. RVD to retain the IC title. RVD comes back as a babyface and denies Heyman's services to become his manager. Therefore, we get a feud of a new heyman guy vs. a former heyman guy. During the contest, Heyman costs RVD the match in order to help Axel win. This will be the first part of Heyman showing his true colors tonight.
    3. Ziggler d. ADR to win WHC.
3.5 Out runs Swagger to cash in. Swagger defeats Ziggler to become the new WHC. Now the Swagger, Ziggler, Del Rio feud that never happened b/c of Ziggler's concussion can resume.
    4. Cena vs. Bryan for WWE. Match ends in a no contest when the Shield interferes and leave both men laying cold. Out runs Orton. Orton cashes in and is new WWE champion. Afterwords, he punts both Cena and Bryan to solidify himself as a heel.
    5. Ryback d. Sheamus. After a big win against Jericho at MITB, Ryback maintains his momentum.
    6. Shield d. Scholars to retain the tag belts. After the match, Cody nails Sandow with the crossroads to solidify the ending of their team and officially turn face.
    8. Brock Lesner d. CM Punk. Lesner wins due to interference by Heyman and Axel. Post match beating on Punk. Out runs the Taker to make the save foreshadowing a WM match between UT and Lesner.

I have way too many heels winning on this card but I feel it will be fairly accurate. For whatever reason, I just cannot see Taker coming back for a match this soon (hopefully I am wrong). Likewise, I guess I just don't want to see the HHH v VKM even though the dirt sheets all suggest it will happen.
