The Real WWF vs. WCW War!

Rating: 2 votes, 3.50 average.
The World Wrestling Federation versus World Championship Wrestling!
It was supposed to be a war that we all couldn't wait to see. Back in the day, some of us never thought it would ever happen!

But it did...unfortunately, not the way we hoped.

This epic battle turned out to be a little less epic that everyone hoped for. With no major names from WCW's Roster making it to the WWF (thanks to Time Warner, mainly) we were treated to an Invasion that could have been greater than it was.

When WCW was sold to Vince McMahon and the WWF publicly on TV, we thought it was the dream event finally shaping up! But when, of all people, Vince's son and then-enemy Shane McMahon (the only fully WWF Contracted star to ever appear on a WCW program, in the ring) appeared and revealed he had bought the company (kayfabe), we didn't know what to expect?
Yes, it would have been better if it was Eric Bischoff, but nonetheless, we couldn't wait for WCW Stars like Ric Flair, Sting, Scott Steiner etc. to appear on WWF TV and give us epic dream matches.

But, we were let down, as I said, thanks to Time Warner keeping them from appearing on WWF TV.

Adding ECW to the mix and making up the Alliance was genius, and gave our once dream event an edge we never thought of. But still, no huge main event WCW stars invading WWF let us down. Then came the WWF Superstars joining the Alliance, and former WCW guys eventually being taken out of action for several different reasons; this all really watered down the smajor storyline.

Before we knew it, guys like WWF Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin, Steven Richards, Christian, Ivory, Test and William Regal made up part of WWF's WCW Invasion storyline team, along with a strong ECW Faction which was full of great alumni of superstars like RVD, Tommy Dreamer, Raven and Tazz.

ECW looked strong, while WCW looked weak and was made up of mainly WWF Superstars.

Why am I reminding you of all this decade-old Invasion stuff? Because I've wrote down a huge list of matches which I want to share with you die-hard fellow fans!

Here are the matches we wished we had saw! I have tried my best to put together matches consisted of wrestlers who are each others counterparts. Basically, WWF and WCW Superstars who seem equal to one another!

From around 2000-2001, here are the matches that should have happened, had a full-on, epic WWF vs. WCW war taken place! (P.S. This is NOT supposed to look like one long PPV )

I agree. Not seeing Austin vs Goldberg and the whole Invasion storyline in general dissappointed me back then. I wonder if VKM did it to BURY almost everyone from WCW.

I would have liked to see Benoit v. Bret Hart; and I think a great tag match could have come from Harlem Heat v. Edge & Christian...c'est la vie, we'll all have our wrestling fantasies

Time Warner never prevented the wrestlers from appearing on WWF TV, The wrestlers could have had their contracts bought out and signed with WWF if they wanted just like DDP, Booker T, ect did. Lets face it Vince jumped the gun a bit. he could have waited on starting the angle once all the WCW wrestlers who chose to wait their contracts out would have been available. I know it would seem like an enternity, but it would have been worth it since it would have meant having guys like Nash, Hall, Hogan, Goldberg, Steiner, ect. But honestly, Vince would have probably fucked it up. He had started to slip once the monday night war ended. Just like he fucked up the NWO angle.
