6 Ways Women's Wrestling Can Be Saved

WWE: Maintain good pace of Divas Matches

If there's one thing that WWE is doing right, it's allowing Divas matches extended time not only on the new 3-hour RAW, but on the 2-hour Smackdown. What I've seen from the past two months is just the right amount of time for them and they get more ring time on occasion than Clay, Barrett, Tensai, etc. But if Divas matches went on for any longer I'd fear that everybody would get bored of them, as believed as the main problem of the Divas before they changed their booking scheme. But so far it's been good, and I hope they just keep it up. Then again this is the WWE we're talking about. A promotion full of fear and doubt.

TNA: Fire Bruce Pritchard and Gail Kim

Ever since Gail Kim ran from the WWE like a little girl and headed to the nearest private jet to Orlando, the Knockout Division has been going downhill ever since. She's hogged the KO title and the tag titles and what happens? Velvet Sky's push = dead, Winter's push = dead, and everybody else other than Mickie and Madison are afterthoughts. Really? You're willing to turn your women's division in the wrong direction just so Gail can get what she wants? Pritchard has also been known to not be a big supporter of women's wrestling, and now we are only seeing two or three Knockouts per episode on a regular basis. Pritchard's authority played a factor in the Beautiful People leaving, which is a huge shocker to me if true.

WWE: Get the Divas Championship off of Eve

I cannot stand Eve. I think she is overrated and has gotten too much attention than what she needs. I cannot take away that she has decent promo skills, is very athletic, and has a strong BJJ background. I get that. But Eve is hardly a draw, she's a very irritating space occupier who is ruining the chances of other women who could use them like Naomi, Tamina, even Natalya again. How come AJ can't wrestle while in a role and Eve can? How much attention can you give one woman in two years? We all know how Vince is obsessed with this woman but she isn't that special.

TNA: Search the Indies for more talent

There are only six Knockouts that TNA books on an ordinary basis. Scary huh? Well out of those six, only two Knockout out of those six never worked for WWE, that being Madison Rayne and ODB. TNA needs to find new, never been seen before women. We know Mickie James and Tara have established themselves already in WWE, because if it weren't for WWE, they wouldn't be in TNA right now. Since the start of 2011, only two new women have been called up from TNA, Rosita and Taeler Hendrix, who are still rather underused. Introduce us to some more homegrown talent. If they can be developed well then we won't know what to expect out of them and we can think "Wow, TNA did a good job with this woman. They don't need to rely on WWE people all the time."

WWE: Sign the Beautiful People

I don't know about you people who don't want them to go there, I'd like to know how many of you are willing to drive all the way to New York to see them compete in someone's backyard & tell me how that's not a waste of their time. They need WWE and WWE needs them; They know without WWE, they wouldn't have the careers that they do. It's certain they would be more than willing to receive 2nd opportuities in the #1 promotion, because very few wrestlers ever do. Regardless of their age, they would be a breath of fresh air to the Divas Division; Angelina I'm certain is very determined to add more titles and accomplishments to her career and follow Trish and Lita, while Velvet could be the next Kelly Kelly and be exposed to much larger markets than in TNA. Velvet's new clothing line I'm sure is a test for her to prove how well she can draw on her own and try to help her chances with WWE while trying to fade her image as TNA's resident sexpot. There is a very elaborate blog about them which I recommend you read if you haven't already.

TNA: Send Brooke Hogan packing

Brooke has been a total flop right off the bat. I understand her role is only an on screen character but couldn't Dixie or the Hulkster bring in anybody else he's friends with in the whole world with more prominence? Brooke is certainly not helping with ratings or making the product any believable, so why is she still around? If TNA keep bragging about their strong women's division, why do they need a boss who is a lot younger and with no wrestling experience? I mean Tara was a toddler when Brooke was born. I know it's gonna be very hard to oust Pritchard, but Brooke can easily be taken care of and she can wander off to go be a rich blond socialite. That's all she is since her singing career flopped.

Great blog. I think that the WWE should also look in the indie circuits for female talent. They shouldn't base everything on looks. And if that is what they are going to do then they should invest time and money in to training them properly like they did with Trish. One of my favorite matches was a Chicago Street Fight between Trish and Victoria (Tara). It even got a little bit bloody. You're not going to see that today. They've got two, maybe three, current Divas that I believe could hold their own.

I agree with TNA firing Bruce Pichard and Brooke Hogan, however, I don't agree with firing Gail. You do know that Gail doesn't run the show right? And that she didn't make herself champion? Gail is a great wrestler and deserves a spot in the roster.

As for WWE I believe Eve is the best all around Diva they have right now, she has the looks, the skills in the ring and on the mic and she has been getting a lot of media attention so it makes perfect sense to push her. In the case of the Beautiful People they'd be so watered down in WWE they'd be boring to watch, they'd just become Laycool all over again if they were pushed at all which WWE doesn't have a good history of pushing former TNA talent. I'd much rather see them return to TNA once Bruce was gone.

Idk about the Gail part I love her. And after being looked over so many times in wwe in regards to a title match and jobbing, the woman who made the division deserves the biggest push of them all even if she has been MIA. I love what she has done for impact even though some departed after they were put in her shadow wasn't her fault it was the booking.
I'm Not really mad at Eve claiming the championship right now. She's the best WWE got in terms of a loyal Sexy, Smart and Powerful Diva. I love her as a heel. Right behind her is Layla who I love cause she reminds me of trish, the top diva grappler Natalya, and fan favorite Alicia Fox who I just adore even if she is jobbing she deserves a push. I would say Beth but Idk about her career in WWE right now. The divas division is running smoothly right now if you ask me.
The only female rosters that i dont like right now is nxt. All the divas on there look boring, bland and are very basic. I like Paige and Skyler Moon however but I am hoping Skyler can get back on the roster. I'm assuming Emma and Anya are good wrestlers I hope. All my nxt faves such as Caylee Turner and Raquel Diaz are gone so until I see a match that is comparable to female legends and won't put me to sleep, at this point nxt can blow me cause they got nothing for the future of the divas besides a bunch of boring ppl unless they change their looks and get a good gimmick.
Impact is down to the nitty gritty when it comes to the division they just need some new blood. We got a green, in-ring improved version of Kelly Kelly/Candice Michelle as the knockout champion and all the contenders are legends/pros. Give us some more variety in the Knockouts. As much as I love ODB, Tara, Gail, Madison, and Mickie, it wouldn't hurt to see a new hotty/wrestler in the ring. Brooke Kinda did make a mess out of the division. She isn't helping really in terms of in the ring. I like brooke and The only reason I say this is it makes a mockery out of the female wrestling division to have a woman with no wrestling experience what so ever bossing them around. She would make a good assistant but let a top performer be in charge of the knockouts. If gail retired she would be a good boss but I prefer her in the competition . The could hire somebody more believable to be a boss instead of hulks daughter.

Not sure what real harm Bruce Pritchard is doing. I don't listen to wrestling "news" sites because they don't report news, they report their own biased feelings and make guesses. So if there's a report that he's causing the downfall of the Knockouts division, I take it with little actual merit. Now if he is, indeed, behind that and really sour on women's wrestling, then yes, Fire his ass, as I don't know what other purpose he truly serves.

As for Gail, some of her matches when she was champ, were five star classics that rival most Raw and Smackdown men's main events, with Mickey James and Velvet Sky. And if I'm not mistaken, most of Winter's push in the title picture was when Mickey James was champ. There's only a two hour show, once a week, with a couple of really big storylines going on right much more Knockouts exposure can really be expected?

I don't see why the Beautiful People would go to WWE, or WWE would sign the Beautiful People. For the girls, besides getting paid more, they wouldn't accomplish much else. WWE puts nothing into their Diva's division. Besides, their roster is already inflated by about 15-20 wrestlers that they probably can't wait to get rid of once Linda loses the election. Or, they'll keep and do nothing with if Linda does win. For WWE, signing anyone would just be useless for them right now, let alone, ex-TNA talents in a division they care very little about.

I do agree with ridding the wrestling world of Brooke. But of course we know that daddy got her the job because all her other ventures have fallen flat and are now dead in the water. So that isn't going to happen.

The wrestling world is on a serious downswing right now. A major recession of sorts that it may not recover from. The product is bad from top to bottom. When a biker gang with bandanas, and a red masked man and a guy with a hideous look and beard yelling "I'm the tag team champions", are the only things even remotely interesting, it's not a good sign. I'm not sure saving the women's side of wrestling will do much to remedy that.

Damn it! I wanted to do this blog! Oh well. I think the biggest problem with women's wrestling is that there's hardly any interesting talent, and this is mostly reflected by WWE. Sure the women are all beautiful to look at but only a handful of them catch my attention. Natalya is interesting to me because she's bigger than the average diva and is different from the usual eye candy. It's why I was so happy to see Kharma when she debuted. Yes, the other girls are talented as well, but there's nothing to separate themselves from the others. Kelly Kelly was pretty, Layla is pretty, Alicia Fox is pretty, AJ is pretty, Natalya is pretty, kaitlyn is pretty, and Aksana is pretty, but what separates Natalya and AJ from the rest is that those two have a character of some sort. AJ played the crazy role and I thought she did well and Natalya plays a confident, almost cocky, role. The rest of girls just strut down the ramp moving their waist in an attempt to get a reaction just by being sexy and obviously it fails. For example, what happens when Alicia Fox walks down the ramp? Not a damn thing, that's what. Alicia is apparently good at selling but when your main asset is being sexy because you can barely work in-ring then your set up for failure. Layla is doing this dancing in the ring thing now and if it led to a finisher of some sort instead of it being a horrible attempt at getting a reaction, then she would be one step closer to having a reaction. Lita had one of the best characters I've ever seen in woman's wrestling and she wasn't there to be a looker! She was there to play a punk-rock extreme chick and it worked wonders! Trish was obviously there to be a looker but she kicked ass eight ways to Sunday and that's why people loved her. If WWE gives Natalya or AJ a proper push then either of them can easily be a star. They just need to give them a proper amount of time on the shows to work and give them some time to cut promos so they can properly flush out there characters. I'd post what TNA needs to do but this is long enough as is.
