Thoughts from the OldSkool
Well this is my first blog of the year. While I have been a member of this wrestling site for sometime now. I havent had the chance to write blog about wrestling. I was waiting for the right moment to do that. That time is now.
I'm writing on two topics. One is Tag Teams and the is A title I would to see in the WWE.
Now I have seen a lot blogs about Tag Teams. All talking about how "they" would change it and so forth. This is NOT about that. I was reading a tag team blog and it said Tag Teams were good in 2000. I had to chuckle at that one. Don't get me wrong Tag Teams were good in 2000. Edge & Christian, Hardy Boys, New Age Outlaws, etc, etc.
2000 was not the year of Tag Teams. It was 1984-90's this was when tag teams were at it's finest. Midnight Express, Rock & Roll Express, The Fantastics, The Rockers, The Road Warriors, Arn & Ole Anderson, Arn & Tully, Doom, Steiner Bros., etc. I could go on and on. I haven't even mentioned WWF tag teams. The list was endless. I remember watching The Jim Crockett Sr. Memorial Cup Tag Team Tournament. This was wrestling watching Tag Team Specialists going at. These weren't 5min tag matches. This 30min a match the finals was 60min. Tag Teams from Japan, Mexico and the U.S. all vying for this huge trophy. I have the VHS tapes (6 in all) hours of great tag team wrestling. You can see some of those matches on you tube. Great stuff.
WWE should bring back the TV title
Now I've read some blogs that say the crusierweight belt should make it's way back to WWE. The problem I see with that is the weight limit. TV title should be used for the younger talent to mid-card talent. A stepping stone to the US and Intercontental Titles. This title should be defended on Raw and Smackdown 10 minute time limit. If defended at PPV also 10 minute time limit. You'll still get the fast paced action of the cruiserweights and technical in these matches. It would make for some great action and a easy time filler for Raw and Smackdown.
