Re-casting Total Divas for a possible Season 2
Sun, 08 Sep 2013 22:05:24 GMTTotal Divas has proven to be a semi-successful "reality" program that is actually targeting the fanbase of celebrity network E!. They have extended the first season to 14 total episodes, but whether E! decides to renew the show for a second season for next year is still up in the air. If so, here is some changes to the cast that WWE & E! should consider:
Divas that should return:
I wish she was in fact the main character. Hands down, she is the most likable Diva on the show. She has been the voice of reason of the entire cast & held everything together. It is too bad that she doesn't have a partner on the show, because she hasn't gotten a lot of time without somebody to be with her.
The Bella Twins
We all can't stand them. Their lives are pretty boring & their storylines are rather useless. But of course they are going to stay around because *sigh* they're dating John Cena & Daniel Bryan. Just the fact alone how much they are hated is the best reason why they will likely stick around, because they cause conflict. Conflict afterall is the backbone to most reality shows, & if people got along, then nobody would watch.
Divas that should not return:
I doubt that the Funkadactyls should be kept around for another season, likely because Naomi's not really much of a glamour girl & Cameron is an airhead whose career will hit a dead end the day the Funkadactyls split up or one of them gets injured. If Naomi is supposed to get a push for the Divas Championship in the near future, then it's best that she is on her own. As for Cameron, "girl bye".
Eva Marie & Jo Jo
Apparently, the reason that the two newbies are on this show is because they're just that: newbies. By next year, they won't be "newbies" anymore, & they'll likely have nothing going for them to keep them on the show, especially Jo Jo, who will likely have to mature before making her wrestling debut.
Other Divas to consider:
Being 36 years old & has been in the company for 7 years, Layla who is a former dancer & cheerleader out of Morocco & England is pretty unique. I don't think Total Divas should be about women who came from some place else to get into wrestling, but rather women who have been in the routine for a while now.
AJ or Kaitlyn
The most likely reason that AJ nor Kaitlyn were cast for Total Divas was because of their lifestyle; they are so much different from the other Divas on the show. They wouldn't want to go bikini shopping or partying. Whatever they do instead may not be what E!'s main viewers are in to. But perhaps that would still create some conflict among the other fellow Divas.
Talent that should be considered to sign or get promoted to work for show:
Nobody knows what the real story is with her, but she was, according to her, supposed to sign a new contract with WWE earlier this year. She is sure to make some steamy moments with the Bella Twins, & having a boyfriend that is (or maybe was) also under WWE's radar is an added bonus. Maria is a redhead I wouldn't mind seeing every week & whether the Bella Twins really forbid WWE to sign her again or not, somebody's a liar.
Charlotte should be highly considerable, since Ric Flair, her father, was like a celebrity in his day. She was also a gymnast, which is pretty rare to mesh with wrestling, so her unusual athletic background could be very intriguing with viewers. She has only been on the NXT program for a few months now, but I bet many viewers will favor her more over half of the current cast.
Victoria is a 12-year wrestling veteran who recently turned 42 years old. Still competing & still staying in shape. Perhaps people want to find out what it's like being a "fossil" in the wrestling business & want to see how she would get along with younger naive girls with less experience. Maybe others want to see a tour of her wrestling-themed restaurant.
The self-professed "queen of all trades" would have no problems fitting in to the reality show, & she's had a life that many viewers would be interested in. Eva Marie & Jo Jo were signed to tell a story about women with no experience trying to make it in the WWE, but what about women who are transitioning from a little pond to an ocean? I would consider her to being Nattie's dumber half.
This lady specializes in MMA, kickboxing, professional stunts, fitness, & acting. She likely won't be in WWE for very long, but I would show her off while you have her. I mean how long before she's done with being a ring announcer? She should have at least had her first match by now.
A physical specimen. She would be an easy favorite on the show. She could be one of the newcomers. She would simply be one of the focal points of the show & give off a large presence because she is very muscular & would give the other Divas a hard time, or the other way around. Every reality show should have its bossy character & the Bella Twins & Cameron at times fail to be just that.
Sara Del Ray
Sure, why not the trainer back in Florida? Her job entails practicing with the other Divas in NXT & those who come to train. While many think she is not that good-looking, she is sure to have an interesting daily life & interesting things to say as well. I sure would not want her to be another background character like "Sharon" or "Jane", but she could be a staple character because she, of course, is a wrestler too.

Fri, 31 Aug 2012 02:26:43 GMTI'm back.
And I know. I didn't want to make a second post about them, but there seemed to be so much that went on in such a short amount of time. I feel that I could jinx it all and a big swerve could happen as soon as I send this, but this all seems pretty unusual. Lauren, Jamie, if some fan happens to lead you here, please disregard and do not respond in any way if you want your motives remained hidden. In this post I will discuss the following:
The main points on Angel's recent interview
TNA's futile efforts to re-sign Talia
Many strange things about their "reunion tour"
Their mutual friends with Triple H
Are they deleting crucial tweets?
And Angel spotted at Fetish Con a month ago
For those who haven't seen part one of my blog, you can view it here at any time.
In case you weren't aware, Angel was interviewed by Monday Night Mayhem last week, considered to be her first "and only" interview after leaving TNA early July. I have listened to her entire audio interview on Wrestleview.com, and I have to say, she is a very classy and professional woman who has been very careful about what to say about the business; lightyears ahead of Gail Kim for sure. She had nearly nothing negative to say about TNA or WWE the whole time she was on the phone. She could have revealed a ton of crazy information like Jesse Neal or the Young Bucks did, but instead she held her tongue. While I would be really curious of what had bothered her in TNA, good on her. TNA was the company that gave her and Talia all the tools to become larger than life personalities and it would be very underhanded to burn their bridges and stab the company in the back after all they have done for them. Many companies would want to hire workers with that sort of positive attitude.
But, she did not reveal much in her interview, not even her "big future" she keeps touting on Twitter. She said that it was "just her time to go" and that she wanted to get together with Talia again in the Indies because fans on Twitter wanted to see them back together. That still doesn't justify why they had to leave TNA in order to do this, and there obviously is more to it than that that she won't talk about. Additionally, those fans who asked them to form together again very likely don't have a plane ticket to a town in New York or somewhere to watch them perform in a gym. If they were to return to TNA, they would have told the executives "We're taking a break from TNA, but we'll return". But no, they both seemed like they were in quite a hurry to get out of there, especially Talia.
Dixie was open to give Talia nearly anything she wanted if she were to change her mind, and as I said in my previous post, Talia was indeed too valueable to TNA to lose since she was their most marketable KO who was incredibly over. But alas, Talia made her choice to leave the company and it was inevitable ever since she tweeted about joining Angel for a stint in the Indies.
While the ugly rumor that she's going to return to TNA soon isn't going away, I feel that she is long gone, for it would be extremely pointless and dumb of her to quit and then re-sign with TNA for no reason. It also wouldn't be like her to ditch Angel in a run in the Indies together and pull out of all her dates, and it wouldn't be like them to punk their old company they've been loyal to for years this way. Makes me wonder of the offers that she forced herself to resist: Replacing Brooke Hogan as head of the Knockouts? Becoming Knockout Champion for a long time? Giving Sabin a World Title push? Giving HERSELF a World Title push? TNA Ice Cream Bars? Oh, I got it: Renaming the show "Impact Wrestling Starring Velvet Sky"! Okay, I had enough fun here. The point being, there seems to be NOTHING to get her to ink a new deal with TNA. There is no turning back and following Angel seems far too important to her.
Talia is quite the mystery here. I would find it very surprising if WWE finally found interest in her after how badly she tried getting in there before. In an interview a while before they both left TNA, she talked about her desperate attempts (it was a not a kayfabe interview, so no shots were taken), talking about how she came to realize she "wasn't ready" at the time. But now, I hope she's not thinking, "Now that I'm a huge draw, I sell merchandise, and I have almost 100,000 Twitter followers, they sure won't pass on me now!". I surely hope she's isn't blind guessing, because I would have stayed in TNA unless I was 100% sure there were legit sources from WWE saying they are garunteed to sign me. If Talia is signed however, it's likely for an unusual reason, but nonetheless, she would be really, really lucky to have gotten her childhood dream come true, because it only happens to very few.
What really surprised many was that Angel seemed very interested in signing with WWE again if given the opportunity. Many fans would argue that she should not due to the "Divas booking" and the fact that she was "TNA built", but you don't think they are aware about what goes on over there?! The problems with WWE and its product do not seem to bother her or Talia for that matter, and believe me, they are aware of many more problems than what is posted online. There will never be a "perfect" promotion that's for sure.
Angel had not hinted that WWE is her next goal, though, she didn't even say if they contacted her or not, but she seemed like she follows and knows a lot about today's product when talking about the Divas she is interested in working with like Beth Phoenix and AJ Lee.
In prior interviews, when she was still in TNA, she would talk about her pursuit of obtaining even more championship reigns. I feel that she is determined to win more titles in her career but I'm satisfied with how she overcame the need to talk about her success last week. No "I'm hungry for more gold," "I want to be famous," "I want to be in videogames", or anything like that. While those would be dead giveaways, nonetheless, she's here to show she wants to be a team player and strives for others to succeed besides herself. That's the kind of attitude any promotion would like to have, and she really must be trying to impress whomever it is is her next employer. Nothing like Gail like, "They better push me because I'm special or else I'll quit".
I had doubts however that Angel would even bother to publically discuss WWE, or for that matter even accept an interview at this point. I could think of a few reasons why though. Maybe she was tired of all the fans harrassing her on Twitter and she wanted them to ease off of her for a while, or perhaps mentioning WWE would let people to believing that that's not the place she is going, or maybe Angel and her legal counsel never really contacted WWE, or vice versa, and that she really is going some place else. But if that were the case, she would be more open to talk about WWE to her fans and wouldn't delete her one tweet to JR.
Again, there is a possiblility that they may not be headed to WWE, but WWE is still not ruled out at this moment because any place else they would say where they're headed would have been revealed by now, even if it were outside of wrestling. WWE would make a lot of sense considering what has been going on with them in the past couple months. I'm certain if they shot down WWE, it would have been briefly after their releases; I don't see why they would wait a long time to tell people they're NOT going. It's not like them to play with TNA, and it's not like them to play with their fans either. Afterall, a third KO may be out the door and she has future plans in wrestling already seemingly revealed...
On quite a few dates, they are scheduled to appear with Katie Lea Birchill, Madison Rayne, and Rosita (who tweeted she wouldn't be able to compete with Angel anymore shortly after she left, strange...), so I had some thought that those four or five may be planning something. However, the Beautiful People are only doing guest appearances, KLB is set to join a women only promotion BLOW and go for some Indy titles, and Madison Rayne and Rosita are still under contract with TNA.
Why do these women want to compete with the Beautiful People again so badly? It could be that they want one last chance to work with them before they might not ever get the chance to again, because they have said in interviews how excited they were when they did in TNA. They all are for certain know what is next for them and if you try to ask about them on Twitter, they will not tell you.
The strange thing about their "reunion tour" is where most of their appearances take place. Almost all of their appearances are around the New York area, and the last one is in Massachusetts. Uh, excuse me ladies but THAT IS BY NO MEANS A "TOUR"! A tour is a trip across the country going to Florida, Texas, Illinois, California, etc. All around.
Yeah, they are going to Aruba for the Caribbean Wrestling Tour with some WWE legends which is coming up very soon, and it's pretty cool that they can do that. Kevin Nash is running it with all his pals, so I guess it's nice that he's allowing them to appear and pay for their expenses, despite the obvious fact that they are NOT legends whatsoever and would be the youngest talent there. Infact, other guys like Gunn, Waltman, Rhino, and Lawler will be there too, and who are they all really good friends with? The man that would be responsible for getting the Beautiful People their jobs of course, the Cerebral Assassin, the King of Kings, the NEWWWW Executive Vice President of Talent Relations, Triple H (BOOOOOOO! Down with him he hates women wrestling blah blah blah). The Beautiful People, thanks to TNA, at least have friends in high places.
But I do however see their Twitter pages that say they want to go to England and South America too, so how come they don't have freedom to go there? Dinero would be an obvious answer. Nash or somebody will likely pay for their flights to and from Aruba, and certainly there are hundreds of bookers from around the world who would like them to appear at their events, but I can see them temporarily living around New York for a budget decision and wouldn't have to pay to travel, because as I said before they may not have enough money to go to event after event after event like what they're lined up for. And obviously there are many big corporations headquartered in the New York area, one of which could be where they're headed if not the WWE, but none that I could think of. MTV? I don't think so.
It has been revealed that Ric Flair's no-compete clause with TNA lasts for 120 days, or 4 months. No word on what exactly he is restricted from. If Angel and Talia's clauses have the same duration, then theirs would be up on November 2nd and November 24th, respectively, around the time their last Indy appearance as of now is scheduled, which is on November 19th. The effectiveness of the TNA vs. WWE lawsuit appears to be in question now that Alex Shelley is rumored to still be in talks with WWE, and his possible clause would be up after his tour with NJPW in September.
The Beautiful People have made it a habit to delete tweets to WWE talent shortly after sending it to them, I'm serious, bro. I mentioned in my previous blog post about Mick Foley and Jim Ross complimenting them, even much earlier Natalya tweeted Talia regarding Chris Sabin, as well as Angel marking out to Road Dogg and Billy Gunn's appearance on RAW 1000. But about a day or so after they sent these tweets, they removed them. I could understand why Talia would remove her appreciative tweet to Mick who said he hopes that she signs with WWE, but to JR and Natalya? All JR did was reply to a fan saying that the Beautiful People were "lovely, talented ladies", so I don't seem to understand why they would pull their "thank you" tweets whether they're headed there or not, but it must be important. Are they not supposed to? I mean those people mentioned THEM first.
I have a cached screenshot of Natalya's tweet and what Talia said back to her, and as I explained before that Natalya's tweet is likely still there, but Talia's is gone.
Did she seriously have to delete that?
Before I wrap this useless blog up, there is this news report about Angel that is very interesting to me that happened in early August:
I have mentioned this in the first blog as well in an update, but I'd like to go into it more since it's so interesting. So she is spotted at Fetish Con with her friend and fellow indy wrestler April Hunter, but it doesn't specify if she was an attendee or a model there. She promptly contacted WrestlingInc that she was only "walking around" and had no "kinky plans" in her future. This gave me a lot to think about. What would make her so concerned about notifying them of what she was doing at a risque convention? Why wasn't April just as concerned? If Angel's staying in the Indies or is going to become a full time actress, then she could be "kinky" all she wants and it would be insignificant because nobody would care. So there must be some place she is going that she is trying very hard and carefully...not to blow her chance at.
One place instantly comes first to mind, and they specialize in PG sports-entertainment. They are very strict about hiring performers and what sorts of backgrounds they had. WWE had no interest in rehiring Chyna at all for her ventures in porn and adult films, as an example, and the Beautiful People got to experience it up front when Chyna had no plans to perform for TNA again. Possibly, if Angel did not speak up on this bit of news about her, then WWE would call her to say "Sorry", if they were to find it that is.
My thoughts? If they are awarded the opportunity to move up to the #1 promotion in the world, they should go for it. They frankly have nothing to lose and could really give fans and management a new found interest in the Divas, either together or on their own. TNA would be nothing but proud of them. The worst thing they can ever do is chicken out and say that they can't do it. If there are two things they have that Gail Kim didn't have, it's charisma and balls. If things don't work out, they have their whole lives to go any other place out there, so WWE wouldn't really be much of a gamble. But with their age, it's not long now until the window shuts. If not the WWE though, I am completely dumbfounded to where else they would go where 1, they would NEED to leave TNA and wait a while, 2, go to wrestle considering they both still label themselves as pro wrestlers, and 3, they're very likely going to head there together. I doubt they would go to ROH, unless they don't mind not performing in the ring and getting groped from behind like Maria. If they were called upon in another career like acting then they would have to report to their project(s) right away.

Despite TNA struggling to become as big as the WWE, TNA still has a show aired weekly on national TV. Although the pay is fair to most of
their homegeown talent, many of them choose to stay in TNA because they're afraid that the WWE doesn't want them, such as with guys like Samoa Joe and Christopher Daniels. Except, no matter how greatly the
Beautiful People put the Knockouts Division on the map, now they're gone from TNA, and likely won't return anytime in the future. Knowing that they have been fully committed to TNA up until now, they would never leave on their own terms unless they would be guaranteed contracts from a bigger promotion, like...I don't know...the one with Cena in it?
Honestly, I saw Angel's departure from TNA coming. Angel was hardly ever used in 2012, which meant she earned very little in 2012, and to top it off, she has never won a single match since August 2011. Angel asked for her release from TNA on July 3rd, and she has not disclosed any reasons behind it.
The very next day, however, there was a rumor going around that WWE has already expressed interest in signing Angel, with several KOs confirming her departure and saying she is off to "big things". So there's a possibility that the TNA locker room and possibly the TNA executives have knowledge of her future, and she certainly isn't going to retire, or become a full-time actor soon. She has been working indy dates since her release and has a no-compete clause.
Talia's departure from TNA was much more extreme. Even though she was only Knockout Champion for a month out of her 4 1/2 year tenure, she was a regular on TNA television and was featured a lot more prominently and marketed more positively. Her contract was about to run out and TNA has asked many stars to restructure their deals and accept pay cuts, but it didn't appear to be the case with Talia. Talia bolted from TNA and severely refused to negotiate on a new deal. They called it "as gone as pen leaving the paper". They should have tried to keep her with all the power they had, but to no avail. What could it possibly mean that the most over KO in TNA has 0% interest in re-signing?
So despite her high marketing power, her music videos and appearances like on FOX News to get the TNA name and image out there, she gives that all up, and once again, she doesn't explain why. Why on Earth would she of all the women in TNA want to leave so remotely after all the attention she's been getting? It hardly makes any sense, that is until it has to do with the "empire" contacting her. If her contract had expired, then it's likely that she does NOT have a no-compete clause.
Why are they doing a "Reunion Tour"? Talia and Angel are scheduled to team up in several appearances and matches in the coming months. However, there are a few things here that don't really add up. TNA wrestlers would be allowed to make indy appearances while under contract, so they could still do their "reunion tour" while in TNA (aren't they working with Winter on October 6th?). I just don't get why the both of them would leave a major wrestling promotion like TNA as soon as they could just so they could be together in the Indies, especially after all the perks they have obtained in TNA.
Many of the circuits would pay them less than TNA has per show, and they would even have to pay to travel. Angel had to rely on the Indies to help cover a doctor's appointment when she got a concussion after Lockdown in 2009 (Angel did not have the money to see a doctor and TNA wouldn't help her, so she had to compete on the Indies for more money.). Both of them haven't really gotten much financial backing in TNA, it's not like they had WWE tenures either to keep them afloat, so they need money, especially Talia because of Chris Sabin out of commision again.
So why are they doing a "reunion tour" now? Are they waiting for something? The possible no-complete clauses? The lawsuit? Are they running out of time before they can no longer work together as "The Beautiful People"? Hence they call it a "reunion tour", otherwise they would be planning to work together until they retire, which seems somewhat unlikely. If they're not headed to the WWE in the future, then I have no clue what they're doing in the Indies at this time or what lies ahead for them. Because we all know, they're still rather young and have several years left in their careers. What other promotions from around the world could they be waiting for to get into? What other careers do they have to turn to? Sure, Angel does a little acting but it that enough for her to go far if she put more focus on it?
Could they be headed to WWE? Nobody but them, the WWE, and TNA know for sure, but that seems like what will happen later on this year or early next year at this point, for their "reunion tour" perhaps will go on while they wait to proceed negotiations with WWE. Could you believe it? I know I couldn't.
The lawsuit TNA filed against WWE pressures WWE into holding off signing anybody recently released from TNA until it's settled. This was the case with TNA star Alex Shelley, whom Mark Madden said he was on his way to signing a contract with WWE until the lawsuit was filed. WWE was said to be interested in bringing in the Motor City Machine Guns as a tag team. With Talia now gone and Chris Sabin very likely soon to be leaving TNA. It opens up the possibility that the three of them would be signed to WWE with Talia starting out as their valet, which is the same way women over the years like Trish Stratus, Lita, Melina, and Natalya started out.
Yet neither of them have denied possible futures in WWE so far. Divas like the Bella Twins and Maxine have stated they were not interested in TNA mere days after they departed from WWE. Both Talia and Angel have no interviews scheduled like Jay Lethal, the Young Bucks, and Jesse Neal had had shortly after their releases, which would potentially go on to reveal what was it in TNA would make them want to leave or tease or hint where they're headed to next. They don't want to say anything about why they left or give away where they're going next. All they have done thus far was accept praise from WWE personalities like Mick Foley (https://twitter.com/realMickFoley/st...91753433866240) and Jim Ross (https://twitter.com/JRsBBQ/status/229737651668922368). But if they said they would be joining a place like WSU or somewhere, I wouldn't understand why they would keep that a secret or keep their fans on their toes about it for so long.
Before the both of them signed with TNA, Angel and Talia's biggest goal was to make it to the WWE. With Angel's developmental territory getting closed down and Talia getting eliminated early from the 2007 Diva Search, they got their careers going forward with TNA. Their biggest hope in TNA was that they thought TNA was going to be that wrestling company that would grow greatly over time, hoping they could earn a lot more money then what they started with. That wasn't the case though. They expected TNA was to get out of it's home in Universal Studios and start functioning on the road like WWE.
Why would WWE interest them you ask? While many would be interested in seeing them perform for WWE, a group of fans would say "They wouldn't be used right", or "They'd never get on RAW". While yeah, the Divas usually are used sparingly in televised matches, there's more to being a wrestler for the WWE than just that, and Angel and Talia have been in the business long enough to know that, regardless of what they've said in their cookie-cutter interviews about WWE, which they've never mentioned by name.
As tough as it is to admit, the Divas are rewarded with much more priveleges than the Knockouts. This includes more money, more shows to wrestle on, more media appearances, more popularity, and medical insurance, something TNA very well should have implemented when Angel got that big concussion at Lockdown in 2009. Not to mention, not a lot of women's wrestlers can say they've been apart of the number one promotion in the world.
Regardless of what they would do there, they would be lucky and thankful where they would end up in their careers. Also not to mention, TNA has hardly done anything to excel into mainstream success to warrant Talia a spot on Dancing With The Stars.
So why would WWE want a pair of wrestlers they rejected years ago? The both of them came a long way from when they were affiliated with the WWE in the past. While both of them are at the halfway point of their careers, their tenure from TNA enabled them to gain experience and exposure in working on TV with former Divas and several legends who are currently back affiliated with WWE (ex: Billy Gunn, Road Dogg, Dusty Rhodes, and Mick Foley) whom perhaps would like to work with them again. Additionally, WWE might want women that their Divas know very well personally to maintain a positive attitude backstage, since they were reportedly upset when Kharma didn't return. This was likely one of the many reasons why Sara Del Rey was signed last month.
The major shake-ups in WWE management are also monumentally differential. As John Laurinaitis is ousted from his jobs in signing talent, Triple H and his associates have taken over for him. As reported, officials were tired of women with no experience using the WWE as a platform to move on to careers outside of wrestling. Now the WWE is more keen on signing women who put wrestling above all else for long-term success, and Angela and Talia are two women that sit into that criteria to center a "makeover" for the Divas division around for their devotion to the business and prior success in TNA, like Kharma; albeit Talia would likely undergo more training before making her debut. Maybe Vince for once is high on them and would like to build the Divas around them or start an all Divas show for the WWE Network.
The Beautiful People to me have practically been the last two women on Earth expected to join WWE for as long as they've been in TNA. It would have probably taken a whole lot. So if we see them land there one day, it could only mean there are big plans in store for them.
Update: Angel attended "Fetish Con" in Tampa, Florida last Saturday with April Hunter, according to Wrestlinginc.com. She later went on to clarify to them that she was only walking around and has no "kinky plans". Hmm...If she's sticking to the Indies, then why should we care what she does and does not do in such an environment?
