View Full Version : TNA oversized roster

TNA has a hugely oversized roster. I like to think the formula for a roster size is six wrestlers for a singles division + eight for a tag division + an extra ten percent for injured or yet to debut or storyline inactive or in limbo

So for the male wrestlers

Divisions:
Main
Secondary
X
Tag

So that is 26 + 10 percent so when rounded that is 29

When being kind to TNA (not counting people like Hogan and EB who do occasionally wrestle) and looking at there roster page you find a huge 43 wrestlers. That is way too many. If they decreased there roster it could look like this

Main
1 - AJ Styles
2 - Mr. Anderson
3 - Samoa Joe
4 - Rob Van Dam
5 - Bully Ray
6 - Kurt Angle

Secondary
1 - Gunner
2 - Crimson
3 - Christopher Daniels
4 - Pope
5 - Shannon Moore
6 - Abyss

X
1 - Brian Kendrick
2 - Kid Kash
3 - Austin Aries
4 - Kazarian
5 - Alex Shelley
6 - Jesse Sorenson

Tag
1 - Mexican America
2 - Beer Money
3 - British Invasion
4 - Zema Ion & Antony Nese (Makeshift I know)

Out
1 - Matt Morgan
2 - Jesse Neal
3 - Chris Sabin

How much better would that be?
It is getting rid of: Devon, EY, Jeff Hardy, Jeff Jarrett (give him a backstage roll), Haskins, Murphey, Flair, Okada, Terry, Haskins, Robbe E, Steiner, Sting (love the guy but needs to retire)

Are guys like Tomko, Devon, Eric Young and Orlando Jordan fired or you just forgot about them?

TNA has always had a problem with a bloated roster, and with so much time given to promos each week, a lot of guys lose out on time.

I was saying this was what the roster could look like if it trimmed down

Edit - Jordan and Tomko are fired btw

they truly have a bloated roster..still has beens like Devon and Scott Steiner are on TV nearly every week and guys like Kazarian or Chris Daniels haven't had proper matches on TV except those throw away Fortune vs. Immortal 6-man tag matches.

push comes to shove, murphy, rob terry , jesse neal, devon, steiner. Then there are the knockouts one of them would have to go or not be on tv anymore as we would need to hire gail kim asap

I would say if you dropped all the people I have stated, I would say you could have a decent female tag division. They have 13 knockouts, according to my formula they could hire two more. (Kim would be one)

I wouldn't split either up but Neal and Sabin are both injured. And Jeff Hardy is a liability

Main
1 - AJ Styles
2 - Mr. Anderson
3 - Bully Ray
4 - Eric Young
5 - Crimson
6 - Gunner

Secondary
1 - Matt Morgan
2 - Devon
3 - Christopher Daniels
4 - Pope
5 - Jeff Hardy
6 - Abyss

X
1 - Brian Kendrick
2 - Shannon Moore
3 - Austin Aries
4 - Kazarian
5 - Alex Shelley
6 - Mark Haskins

Tag
1 - Beer Money
2 - British Invasion
3 - I don't know (Put Team 3D back together after a while for one last bang.)
4 - I don't know (Mexican America... I absolutely hate Anarquia)

Get Rid Of: Anarquia, Hulk Hogan, Robbie E's Gimmick, Okada (Who?) Murphy.

You gotta think of it this way, If there wasn't so much talking in TNA, and they had good 15 minute long wrestling matches, they would be able to use more of the talent.

Steiner is jobbing now so I don't know why everyone is complaining (he could take Tazz's place on commentary or make it a 3 man team, I'd have to see it once to know if it would work). Aries and Kash could be a heel MCMG and make a great feud and you could turn Ion into a showboating heel to make up for the loss of heels in the X-Division.

I understand but I think if he cleans himself up, probably go to a rehab facility and then hit the gym I wouldn't mind seeing him, he can put on a decent match, I'm jus sayin...

Here's Mine:

Main:
AJ Styles
Kurt Angle
Sting
Samoa Joe
Mr. Anderson
Matt Morgan
Robert Roode

Eric Young
Austin Aries

Amazing Red

Tag Tem:

-This is exactly 30 wrestlers
-You should get rid of Devon, James Storm (Could keep him, but don't see a use. Beer Money has run it's course and Roode needs a singles push), Rob Terry, Murphy, Okada, Jeff Hardy, and RVD.
-Give Jarrett a backstage role where he's off camera
-Bischoff and Hogan as the people who run the show

Well honestly its not oversized.... TNA is just trying to look for that guy or that certain group of guys that will bring them main streat attention or bring them to a presentable 2.0 rating and keep people intersted.

What they should do is anyone who is over the age of 36 needs to be released. Lets get a wave of young unkown wrestlers and build them up.
