It's sad and pathetic. why?

Because WWE is trying so hard to get new talent noticed. Why do we need him stinking up the place? It's things like this that piss me off. WWE is actually hurting their own cause by using him.

We get Booker T, who is still very able to work a match, on commentary. How many matches do we get out of him? F#@king zero!

How many out of Lawler? Every Monday.

He's isn't even that big of a legend. If he wasn't a commentator for so long, I honestly don't even think people would remember him. He'd be like Bull Buchanan. Don't remember him. Exactly.

All I'm saying is there are many more legends that are bigger names, more competent, and in better shape.

I wish for just one RAW we could have the commentators, you know commentate!

They are letting Lawler wrestle, and win nowadays because hes close to retirement, has not gotten a shot at the WWE title, and has not had a Wrestlemania moment. I'm happy if he gets what he wants, because he deserves it. He has been in the wrestling business for so long, and deserves a WWE title shot, or at least a WM moment. One could argue by that logic, that legends such as Ricky Steamboat, and Roddy Piper should get WWE title shots too. But they have retired from wrestling a long time ago, whilst Jerry hasn't.

yeah im one for using older stars to push younger guys but seeing lawler in the ring is beyond the joke the only thing i remember of his wrestling days was his rivalry with doink

To be fair, I thought the TLC match between Lawler and Miz was actually pretty good. The stipulation of that match allowed Lawler to convincingly compete with a younger/stronger opponent. But yeah he's being used a bit much and putting him in a title match on a major PPV just to set up his WM moment seems a bit extreme.

J.R and Lawler complimented each other.Lawler was never the same without J.R although his matches aren't that bad.I hope he retires after having a WM moment i.e kicking cole's ass at mania

I would be surprised if Jerry Lawler actually beat The Miz to become the Champ, but if that did happen then I could only see him becoming a transitional Champion.

Ummmm I guess I'll the the one to point out the obvious. dude YOU know who Bull Buchanan is.....*akward silence*.....so you just kinda argued your own point.
My point you ask? That The King is on his way out and this is basically a severns package. Kinda like when when folks get watches when they retire. They do this for him instead of a watch because, well to be honest, there were watches excanged when Flair retired from WWE and we all know how well that worked out lol. O and not only is The King a legend but a pivotal part of the build up of our beloved good ol Jr. Who would have gone nowhere as a heel. I would ask if you remember when Jr. was a heel but you remember who Bull Buchanan is so I guess anything is possible lol ;)

LOL? I actually like this storyline.... King deserves it, and ofcourse he is a legend... look for how many years he has been around and for his age he can actually still put on a match. I enjoyed the match they had on raw, so looking forward monday :D

I don't have a problem at all with Lawler getting this main event title run, which will probably cumulate with a match at Mania. It's not as if he's making a fool of himself, he can still go in the ring, and for his age, he's still very good!!
Jerry Lawler has never held the main title in WWE (which is a joke), so I believe he deserved the shot e got on RAW in that ladder match, and he deserves the one he's getting on ppv at EC. He's not going to win, but who cares!! And most importantly, he deserves the match he's going to get at Wrestlemania. He's never had a match at Mania before (which is an even bigger joke), and I'm happy that he's going to get these things, before he finally retires.

give it a break guys
see this as another sucessfull tittle defense for the miz and a chance to see michael cole "who u all hate" getting his ass kicked at mania
stop bitching iwc

Here is how I think it will go down. I believe the King will win at EC. The next night on Raw Miz will get his rematch. Alex gets involved makes him loose the title. This builds up to Lawler exacting his revenge on Alex at mania. It would be hard to have both Lawler and Cole in a match at Mania and make it believable.

To commend Lawler on his abilities. I have been watching Lawler since USWA. Just Last WED he wrestled Bill Dundee in Evansville In and then tagged with Brian Christopher in Vincennes In. I think he will soon retire from Raw and go back to the Indies for a few Years.

Lawler vs Dundee = http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nOBtn-tsoE here is part one of three.

I would totally watch Lawler/Cole match!

My guess is that Lawler will lose the match thanks to Cole, again. Then the next night, they confront and tells Lawler that he's too old to have a Wrestlemania match, then the GM announces Cole vs Lawler at the PPV.

I don't care if "Old Gut Man" Lawler has never held a title.

Roddy Piper never held the WWE Title and he's ten times better than Lawler, no make that 11 times better.

Lawler not a legend. Listen here sir, Jerry Lawler has held more championships than anyone else on the WWE roster, he has held a combined 163 titles in his career, in 1991 at the age of 41 he was listed at #12 in PWI singles wrestlers of the year, and he is the greatest color commentator that WWE has ever had when he was teamed with JR. I agree that he should not beat Miz for the championship, but if he does it's not like it would hurt the Miz or insult the title cause of how he has been built up. Lawler is the same age as Flair and Lawler is way more mobile in the ring than Flair. If Lawler is on his way out let him have one last bit of glory, I don't remember people bitching and moaning when Flair was having his last little run in WWE before he "retired".

P.S.: I live right outside Memphis, that's why I'm such a Kingacoholic. :-)

I live right outside of Louisville Ky and I love Lawler as well. People need to respect a man of his caliber. I am glad you brought up that Flair, he was great in his prime but he is the one that needs to put away the boots. I have been staying on top of Lawler's indy wrestling and it is still great. With you being from Memphis you probably watched alot of USWA as well.

There's no denying Jerry's contributions in the ring from his fists to his piledriver. The King/Kauffman ordeal on Letterman was epic!

King retires, Jr gets back.
I would be so happy if this happens ;D
Or even Happier if Cole broke his legs and King get in his place ;D
But that won't happen, and i dont wanna see Cole in a wheelchair...

yeah I agree that he this is a good idea. its really to help build the match between him and Cole at mania. I mean i'm sure he wont win the title and Cole will jump in again much as he did during the ladder match. Maybe they will have first blood match lol imagine Cole bleeding out of his head. How great would that be.

ok, one thing, Jerry Lawler will NEVER retire. he might leave WWE, but he will wrestle until he is dead. Him and Bill Dundee will always battle in TN. Wrestlers rarely retire, and Jerry will NEVER retire.

Heres some quotes from The King over the years:

"Andy Kaufman's mom wanted a girl, his father wanted a boy, and they were both satisfied!"

"I'd like to see things from your point of view JR, but I'd have to get my head out of my rear end."

(to X-Pac) "If brains were chocolate, he still wouldn't fill an M&M!"

(talking to Jim Ross getting ready for the bikini contest) "Should Viagra be taken now or, it takes a little while to kick in you know?" (Jim Ross says Lawler doesn't need it) "No, I'm talking about you, J.R."

"When Sunny was in school she wasn't very good in history, but she was great on dates!"

(Jim Ross implies that Sunny is too young for Lawler) "I'm not embarrassed to be seen with younger women, except when I drop them off at school."

"Mark Henry just walked in front of me, I thought it was an eclipse."

"Cheating is only cheating when you get caught."

"This Bingo Hall (ECW Arena) should be built out of toilet paper because there's nothing in it but shit!"

"Is it true that the toughest 4 years of your life was the 3rd grade?"

"If Mae Young is going to breast feed, all that baby's going to get is evaporated milk."

(about the Blue Meanie) "He's the reason for separate beds."

(to Michael Cole) "She's not your type. She's not inflatable."

All hail the true king of the WWE!

There's no denying Jerry's contributions in the ring from his fists to his piledriver. The King/Kauffman ordeal on Letterman was epic!

That was awesome! I think it won an award too.

I live right outside of Louisville!!! or at least I do when I'm on leave. Elizabethtown to be exact. Sorry I know that was random lol.
Lawler is freakin amazing in his older matches and he is still a major draw on the indy circut too. The fact that WWE has never pushed him to the title is just stupid if ya ask me. I'm real happy for this moment in the sun he's gettin.

I disagree, I think Lawler Vs The Miz is great.

Miz needs a good face to work with, a legend like Jerry Lawler is perfect for him. The in-ring work and then in the fans eyes as well it could help Miz out tremendously.
