Dunno if anyones interested in it, but as i didnt see one, I took the liberty upon myself to open one and get a discussion going. The top 12 after the first day of play are as follows

1. Adam Scott=-6
T2. Paul Lawrie, Nick Colsaerts, Zach Johnson= -5
5. Brandt Snedeker= -4
T6. Bubba Watson, Ernie Els, Graeme McDowell, Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Toshniri Muto, Steve Stricker, Peter Hanson= -3

Interesting days play for sure, my moneys on Tiger or G-Mac to win the trophy. Honourable mention for N.Irelands Michael Hoey in last place on +9 :p

YES! We need more golf fans here! there's only a couple of us as far as I know!

I'm enjoying seeing so many big names up there, especially guys like Els, Johnson and Woods (who have been struggling for a while). I'm loving that Lawrie's up there too. Nice to see him having somewhat of an Indian summer.

If the wether sticks for the whole weekend, it will be very interesting to see who eventually wins it given that there are so many big names up there doing well so far.

Is that how he ended up there?! I tuned in just to see him in the middle of nowhere lol! Incredible bad luck for that to have happened!
I didn't catch much action today since I was working, but I'll be watching closely for the next 3 days for sure!

Count yourself lucky and make the best of it there lol!

I play casually just when I have time, mostly during easter and summer holidays. I don't have a handicap, best I've shot round my local par 62 course is a 72 +10. Not great, but I wouldn't expect to do much better given that I don't play much!

Nice day of play today. Brent put in a fantastic round. Amazing that he hasn't had a single bogy or been in any of the bunkers in either of the first rounds yet. Adam Scott still in there too in second. Tiger made a great charge and is lurking just behind them. His chip in at the last was fantastic.

Very nice moment to see tom Watson sink that final put to just make the cut. Amazing how he's still so good at 62!

Tough to say who's going to win. Apparently the weather's going to change with some more wind over the next 2 days, so we'll see. There's a lot of good players up there with a chance though.

After 36 holes at the US Open I said Tiger would win and, despite how that turned out for me, I'll say that again here. Awesome to see Tom Watson make the cut the way he did. Moments like that are why I love sports.

IF I had to put money on someone I'd have to put it on Tiger to win too. Although Brent is 4 shots ahead, with 2 rounds to go, anything can happen, and Tiger's the best chasing from a position such as the one he's in.

My Dad was well chuffed for Watson since he's his favorite player. awesome moment!

Ha! It's funny, without his British Open run in '09, I don't know if I would've ever known who Watson was.

Ohhhh wow! Gary Player talking to Dan Walker (one of the guys from the BBC) about his Open memories and just some other general chit chat there, absolute hero!!
He acted out a shot he played on the final hole when he won the Open back in 1976, he was so funny acting it out and describing the exact scenario! Such a legend!

Yeah saw that, great player (lol coz hes called Player). I like Dan Walker and the BBC's coverage, especially that old guy Peter Alliss, but I hate that bitch who presents it :@.

As for the golf, I felt bad for the Sned that he fell back. On the first post of this thread I believe i tipped Woods or McDowell. Still hoping G-Mac can bring back the goods for Ireland once more, but it's very hard to look past Adam Scott atm, very solid round of golf in clearly tricky condition. Dream final pairing wuda been him and Tiger, matching the Tigger up with his old caddie, Steve Williams... As for the winner, head says Scott, heart says G-Mac!

I agree that it's hard to look past Scott right now, but if you think about it, Snedeker dropped a few yesterday when he was a few ahead, so I think anything's possible, especially with the wind picking up. I'd say anyone from Johnson and Els upwards can win it.
If Scott manages to shoot even for the day he's got it for sure, but looking at scores from the early guys there's not many that are under par thus far, so low scoring seems to be hard out there today.

I'll take a punt and say that Tiger's going to win, just to go different form the obvious choice of Scott!

I wonder what the odds were on that happening!

I'm gutted for Scott, so harsh on the guy. But honestly, big Ernie deserves it. He's not won a major for 10 years, has been in bad form for a long time, he's battled back to some fine form in the last year or 2 and IMO he fully deserves that. Very happy for him!

Agreed but tbh I'm more gutted for Scott than pleased for Els, despite loving him! Els was classy at the presentation and congrats to the big man. Unfortunately don't think he'll (Scott) ever win one, just don't think he has the mental side covered. Also Tiger needs to be much more confident with the driver if he wants to get that elusive 15th major. Don't think he'll catch Nicklaus now, but ya never know in golf, it was proved today. Overall, great fun as usual!

I'm very gutted for Scott. I agree that he just might not have the mental side covered to win a major, and I think he's similar to McIllroy in that respect.
I don't know about Tiger. He's only 36, so he's potentially got another good 10 years left at the top of the game, he's bound to win at least one major in that time IMO. He does need to work hard to get his confidence back with the driver though, because he's not going to win a major again without his driver, since you just can't play those big tournaments hitting irons off the tees all day.
