World Wrestling Entertainment’s flagship show has always been and will always be Monday Night RAW. Although some roster trades and drafts have occurred in the past to try and create some sort of balance, Smackdown was always considered the B-Show. The problem is not the lack of talent but rather poor booking. Let’s see what transpires when a simple-minded wrestling fan takes control of the show.

WWE SmackDown
Friday January 1st 2010
Kemper Arena – Kansas City, Missouri

The show kicks off from the Kemper Arena in Kansas City, Missouri. Matt Striker and Todd Grisham welcome us to the first SmackDown edition of 2010 and Striker reminds everyone that this is the same venue the inaugural Smackdown show was in back in April 29, 1999. The stage and entrance ramp explode with pyros and fireworks as the fans roar and the cameras pan around the arena.

*No Chance In Hell*

Unexpectedly, Vince McMahon makes his way to the ring and demands a microphone. Vince says he made a very important New Year resolution that will change SmackDown forever. Vince goes on to say that as of this moment, Theodore Long is relieved of his duties as General Manager and Vickie Guerrero will no longer be considered a SmackDown consultant. Mr. McMahon says that the new authority figure will be revealed to the public after tonight’s main event. Vince announces that we will see a Four Corners Elimination match featuring Edge, Rey Mysterio, Big Show and Kofi Kingston to determine the #1 Contender for Kane’s World Heavyweight Championship. The crowd pops after every name and seems to be happy at the idea of having four of their favorites compete for a chance at the world title. Vince also announces that we will also see Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler defend his title against Kaval and LayCool will compete in a tag match against the team of Beth Phoenix and Kelly Kelly. Vince’s music plays as he exits the ring and we go backstage in the parking lot arena where we see the World Heavyweight Champion Kane walking with Paul Bearer as he bumps into Edge. The champion and former champion come face to face as Bearer does nothing but look on. Edge finally smiles and tells The Big Red Machine that he will be seeing him very soon.

Somewhere else in the backstage area, we see Chavo Guerrero trying to comfort Vickie who seems to be upset for losing her consultant job. Chavo tells Vickie that they represent the Guerrero family and should not make “la familia” look weak. At this time, Alberto Del Rio passes by dressed in a suit and starts to laugh at the duo calling them pathetic and a shame to the Latino community. Chavo initially ignores Alberto until the latter begins to talk about the late Eddie Guerrero that is when Chavo snaps and gets in Alberto’s face and warns him to never utter that name again. Alberto continues to laugh and dares him to do something about it, so Chavo clocks Del Rio and starts nailing him with a fury of punches before finally stopping and saying “How about I see you in the ring later?”

*Commercial Break*

11-09-2010, 04:51 AM
We come back from the commercial break and we arein the ringside area, as we get ready for the first match of the evening.

Divas Tag Match
LayCool (Michelle McCool & Layla) vs. Beth Phoenix & Kelly Kelly

LayCool controls the early going of the match by utilizing some 101 tag wrestling rules by isolating Kelly Kelly from Beth Phoenix and constantly tagging in and out of the match and keeping Kelly away from her corner. However, the latter finds an opening to make the hot tag to Beth who takes out both Michelle and Layla and the two recuperate outside the ring. McCool gets back inside the ring before the 10 count and goes at it with The Glamazon with Beth proving far more powerful than Michelle. The referee gets distracted by a verbal argument between Kelly Kelly and Layla and is nowhere to be found to make a three count after Phoenix hits Michelle with the Glam Slam! Layla gets into the ring and tries to take Beth out but the latter gives her a Glam Slam as well. Kelly gets tagged in and goes to the top rope and comes off with Kelly Killer on McCool and this times the referee counts the 1-2-3 awarding the match to Beth Phoenix and Kelly Kelly.

Layla pulls Michelle out of the ring, grabs the WWE Divas Title and retreats up the ramp as the winning team of Beth and Kelly celebrate in the ring.

Backstage, the returning Jonathan Coachman is standing with none other than the Big Show! Coach asks Show on his opinion on tonight’s main event and how he thinks it will turn out. Show says he does not see how Edge, Rey or Kofi can pin or submit him tonight. He is squashing all three of them and becoming the #1 contender, then after that he is going after Kane. Show says he is gunning for that title and there is no man in this earth that will stop him from becoming the new World Heavyweight Champion.

We cut to the locker room of Rey Mysterio where we see the Master of 619 warming up for his match later on tonight.

Back in the ringside area, Matt Striker and Todd Grisham announce that Alberto Del Rio accepted Chavo Guerrero’s challenge and that match is… NEXT!

Singles Match
Chavo Guerrero w/ Vickie Guerrero vs. Alberto Del Rio

Chavo goes after Alberto as soon as he steps inside the ring and hammers away at him with punches and elbows. Del Rio tries to fight back but Chavo is too much to fend off. The battle eventually makes its way to the outside area where Alberto gains some advantage when Guerrero runs into the ring post as he misses a clothesline. Del Rio brings the action back into the ring where he pummels away at Chavo. Alberto scores with a low blow behind the referee’s back; however, he is unable to keep Guerrero down for the three count. The Mexican Aristocrat brings a steel chair into the ring and attempts to use it on Chavo but fails as the tables get turned and Del Rio tastes some steel when Guerrero snaps and clocks him over the head. The referee immediately calls for the bell disqualifying Chavo Guerrero and awarding the match to Alberto Del Rio. Chavo stands over the fallen body of Alberto and he can be heard screaming at him to never insult his family again. Vickie comes inside and helps Chavo to the back as we see a final shot of Alberto Del Rio knocked out in the middle of the ring.

Striker and Grisham speculate if Alberto Del Rio woke up some long lost Latino pride in Chavo Guerrero, as the latter never took his eyes off Alberto as he made his way up the ramp.

We cut to the parking lot area where we see Vince McMahon heading towards his limousine, as he appears to be leaving for the night when none other than Jack Swagger approaches him. Swagger questions why Mr. McMahon did not include him in the Four Corners Elimination Match for the #1 Contender spot. Vince simply smiles and tells Jack that life is not fair and that sometimes things just do not go your way. McMahon stresses that from now one if he has any issues, he should take them up with the new General Manager. The chauffeur of the limousine drives off and Swagger is left with a dissatisfied look on his face.

We then see a split-screen of Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler and the challenger Kaval heading to the ring and the voice of Matt Striker is heard announcing that the championship bout is next after the commercial break!

*Commercial Break*

Kaval is first to come out to a good pop from the crowd followed by the Intercontinental Champion who gets greeted by some very loud boos. Both men circle the ring and the match is underway.

Intercontinental Championship
Dolph Ziggler © vs. Kaval

Ziggler proves to be too powerful for Kaval so the latter turns into his martial arts skills and pummels at the champion with variations of low and body kicks to keep him down. Kaval takes the fight to the ground and attempts diverse submission holds to try to wear out Ziggler but the latter refuses to give up. Dolph eventually gets a second wind and makes his way to his feet and drops Kaval to the canvas with a huge power slam. The Natural follows with a series of clotheslines and slows the momentum of Kaval down. Later in the match, Ziggler goes for the Zig Zag but misses and crashes to the canvas allowing Kaval to hit the top rope and drop down with his infamous Warrior’s Way on the chest of the Intercontinental Champion. Kaval goes for the cover but only gets two. The challenger then picks up his opponent and attempts a Kaval Krusher but Dolph proves too heavy so Ziggler counters the move and nails the Zig Zag and the referee goes for the count but stops before he counts three as Kaval manages to put his foot on the bottom rope. Ziggler is livid and goes for a piledriver to finish off his opponent but Kaval rolls him up for the victory! Matt Striker is heard screaming, “We have a new Intercontinental Champion! What an upset!” Kaval quickly slides out of the ring and celebrates with his new belt in the outside as Dolph Ziggler, now the former champion, is fuming inside the ring. Ziggler gets a microphone and screams at Kaval that his win was a fluke and he wants a rematch next week. Kaval smiles and nods his head accepting the rematch and the two stare down until the shot fades.

Main Event: Four Corners Elimination Match – World Title #1 Contender
Edge vs. Big Show vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Kofi Kingston

All four competitors make their way to the ring as we get set for our main event for the evening. Edge, Kofi and Rey quickly turn their attention to the bigger man Show and unleash a 3-on-1 assault. Show is able to fend off his attackers and tosses Edge to the outside after the latter attempts a crossbody from the top rope then goes to work on Kofi and Rey. Show controls the two men for several minutes and nails a Double Chokeslam but before he can go for the pin, Edge comes back from the outside and takes the big man down with a huge spear and goes for the pin but cannot keep him down for the three count. Show gets back up to his feet and goes for a Chokeslam on Edge but Mysterio comes off the top rope with a Missile Drop Kick to the back and as Show turns around Kofi nails him with the Trouble in Paradise to the head, this allows Edge to nail another Spear and this time all three men pile up on top of Big Show to keep him down for the pin and the elimination. It is now down to Edge, Kofi and Rey and this time Edge is the one being double-teamed. Mysterio goes for a 6-1-9 on Edge but misses and as he gets back into the ring, Kofi catches him with a Trouble in Paradise and cover him for the 1-2-3. Rey Mysterio has been eliminated and it is now down to Edge and Kofi Kingston. The two men battle it out with neither man able to gain the upper hand. The finish comes when Kofi misses a Flying Forearm Smash and turns into a boot to the gut from Edge who goes for the Edgecution but Kingston gets a hold of one of his legs and rolls him up in a small package for the win. Kofi Kingston is the new #1 Contender to the World Heavyweight Championship and celebrates in the top rope. At this time, “Man On Fire” by Jim Johnston plays and out walks Kane accompanied by his mentor Paul Bearer. The champ makes his way to the ring and Kofi immediately gets into his face showing no intimidation and when it looks like the two are about to clash, we hear the words “The Best There Was… The Best There Is… The Best There Ever Will Be!” over the loud speakers and out walks none other than Bret Hart! The Hitman stands on the stage with a microphone in his hand and announces that by the power of Vince McMahon, he has been appointed General Manager of SmackDown. Hart says that he is very impressed with Kofi Kingston’s performance and in reward, he will get to choose when to cash in his title shot and expects him to do so by next week. Bret says now that The Hitman is in charge; SmackDown will reach a new level of excellence.

WWE SmackDown Results
Friday January 8th 2010
Target Center –Minneapolis, Minnesota

The show kicks off with greetings from Matt Striker and Todd Grisham and we are off to a quick start as Dolph Ziggler is in the ring for his rematch for the Intercontinental Championship that he lost last week to Kaval.

* Kaval defeats Dolph Ziggler via pin fall to retain the Intercontinental Championship; the champ then grabs a microphone after the match issuing an open challenge next to anyone in the SmackDown locker room to face him in a match for the gold

After the first commercial break, The Big Show makes his way to the ring and bickers about how it took three men to beat him last week on SmackDown and if anyone of them were to face him one-on-one, they would not stand a change. This brings out Edge who says that Show should find another place to make excuses because nobody really cares then challenges him to a match. Show quickly accepts but the new GM of SmackDown Bret Hart appears in the TitanTron. Hart says that he would really like to see Edge versus Big Show but would like to save that for a later date and instead says that they will be part of a mega tag match for tonight’s main event: Edge & Rey Mysterio vs. Big Show & Kane.

We take another commercial break and when we come back, we will see Tiffany in one-on-one action against Layla.

* Layla defeats Tiffany via pin fall after some help from Michelle McCool. After the match, LayCool try to add insult to injure by double-teamming Tiffany, which brings out Beth Phoenix and Kelly Kelly and the trio reverse the tables on the co-champions. As LayCool retreat up the ramp, Michelle grabs a microphone and challenges Beth, Kelly and Tiffany to a 3 vs. 3 Tag Match next week and promises to bring in the right partner that will even up the odds.

The attention then turns to the GM’s office. Bret Hart faces the camera and announces that he is reactivating a prestigious championship belt that was a stepping-stone for many wrestlers that went on to become future World Champions. Hart says that later on tonight we will be treated to a special Battle Royal involving 10 SmackDown superstars to crown a new European champion!

After the break, Alberto Del Rio comes out and says that he has never been embarrassed like he was last week by a low-life named Chavo Guerrero. Chavo comes out and says that maybe him and Eddie did not always see eye to eye, but he will never let anyone disgrace the Guerrero family name. Alberto says that he will get his revenge because he is challenging Chavo next week, but he does not want a match, he wants a fight – A street fight. Del Rio warns Guerrero that things will be very different this time around. Chavo welcomes the challenges and says what he did to him last week is nothing compared to what he has in store for him next week.

In the backstage area, Jonathan Coachman catches up with the new #1 Contender Kofi Kingston and asks him when he will cash in his shot for the title. Kofi says he has been doing a lot of thinking and thinks the right thing to do is… to announce it in the ring later on tonight.

* The participants in the 10-Men Battle Royal for the newly reactivated European Championship include Christian, Drew McIntyre, Finlay, MVP, Chris Masters, Cody Rhodes, Joey Mercury, Tyler Reks, JTG and Shad. Joey Mercury is first to be eliminated by Christian. Shad and JTG double team to eliminate Chris Masters and Tyler Reks, but get surprised from behind by Drew McIntyre and Finlay who eliminate Cryme Tyme duo. Cody Rhodes is eliminated next by MVP and it’s down to the final four – Christian, McIntyre, MVP and Finlay. Christian is next to go by McIntyre. MVP then eliminates Drew and in return Finlay tosses MVP out and is the new European Champion!

* In the main event, Kane and Big Show defeated Edge and Rey Mysterio when Kane pinned Mysterio after a Chokeslam. Edge and Big Show went at it outside the ring and took their fight to the crowd. As the World Champion celebrated in the ring, “S.O.S.” by Collie Buddz played in the loud speakers and out came the #1 Contender Kofi Kingston to a huge ovation. Kofi said that after consulting with Bret Hart, it looks like the next time SmackDown will be having a pay-per-view will be at the Royal Rumble Sunday January 24th. Kofi says while twenty men will be battling it out to determine who goes on to face the champion at Wrestlemania 26, he is going to be focused on becoming that champion they will face!

Great stuff IMO!! Great to see you involve Chavo in a worthwhile storyline, and the fact that you booked Kofi as the #1 contender is great too. Kaval as the IC champ is something I would like to see too. Shame that you got rid of T-Lo, but a reat move to bring back the Coach!! And Vince on-screen is always good to see!!
Would be cool to see you write another show!! How about getting other diss-used guys involved? I would love to see Chris Masters involved in a decent storyline (face or heel, up to you). I would also like to see Christian and Joey Mercury involved in worthwhile storylines in some way (I know both are injured, but let's pretend they aren't). And how about the tag team division? How would you go about saving that?

Loving what you did with Chavo in your thread. Its realistic and would bring back the Chavo that we used to see, performing at his very best.

Great read!
