I agree with the list except that I think JBL should switch with Triple H and Eddie, HBK and the Undertaker should be on there.

ihearvoices

This list is missing HBK, Kane & undertaker. HHH & Edge should be higher, Cm Punk & John Cena should be lower, Vice & Paul Heyman shouldn't be on the list if JR is not included.

Undertaker? Really?? I can't remember the last memorable thing the guy said, other than "Rest... In... Peaaaace...."

I do agree that the Rock should probably be #1

JBL should also be a little lower on the list. He's good, but not better than some of the guys below him.

Santino above Rick Rude!?! C'mon SON!

It makes sense, you know. Rude was most notable for cutting signature one liners and got cheap heat by insulting the men of whatever town he was wrestling for. Santino, on the other hand, is able to use all sorts of material to be funny or to make you hate him. He doesn't really have a catchphrase and he's shown versatility as both a face and as a heel.

Just because Rude is more iconic than Marella doesn't mean he's better on the mic than him.

Agreed. Taker doesn't deserve to be on the list. The way he scared people or commanded respect was either in the ring or with the aid of fireworks and gongs. That's really about it.

IMO jbl way lower . Santino and the Miz might belong on there someday I am not sure they belong there today. Also I am not sure what spot, but CM PuNK and Hogan should both be higher.

Exactly! He's always played off the fact that he has an intimidating character. That's about it. That's not saying he's horrible on the mic either, he's just never really needed it to get himself over.

Hogan's alright. Maybe it's because I didn't grow up with him during the Hulkamania days, but I've just never been able to connect with him. Even during the NWO days I always thought he was pretty mediocre, as a wrestler & on the mic. He does know how to work the crowd during a match though, obviously.

Sandow and Barrett need to be on this list.

Sandow already?? You might want to let the guy get waste deep before you call him a master. Barrett's good, but I think he needs more time to develop his character before we can just go and say that he's a master on the mic as well. It would be nice to see Regal on the list though.

Austin and Rock are the best two I'd say.

Its sad that some of you thinks that HBK, Undertaker and Kane should be on the list. Come on if you can find me one good promo from one of these guys i will change my opinion. And for the nr1 spot, Austin was and is better than The Rock on the mic. Just look at this :

I personally would have had these people on the list who I felt was left out or forgotten. No particular order.

1. Jim Cornette
2. Larry Zbyszko
3. Brian Pillman
4. Arn Anderson
5. Freddy Blassie
6. Bully Ray
7. Gary Hart
8. Jimmy Hart
9. Paul Orndorff (who is always overlooked and does not get his props)
10. Iceman King Parsons
11. Jimmy and Johnny Valiant
12. Michael PS Hayes
13. Jimmy Garvin
14. "The Pope" D'Angelo Dinero
15. Big Poppa Pump Scott Steiner
16. Road Warriors
17. Nick Bonkwinkle (see Orndorff's comment)
18. Shane Douglas
19. Honky Tonk Man
20. Don Muraco (see Orndorff's comment also)

I feel WWEs list had tunnel vision. These people I listed had far superior Mic skills than some, not all, on their list.

While true HBK was saying edgier stuff with DX before Stone Cold did...

akbar
05-26-2012, 04:27 PM
Nah, I think it was Stone Cold who said edgier stuff before DX. Stone Cold said every curse word in the book and proceeded to flip the bird to whoever he didn't like before DX started telling the fans to suck it and started doing crotch chops. Not to mention Stone Cold's "controversial" appearance on Livewire back in 1996:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ec1AoCvGQl4
I think if it weren't for Stone Cold's Austin 3:16 promo, no one from that era would have been cutting edgier promos.
I accept my defeat. Lol

But still...people saying hbk wasn't good on the mic is absurd.

HBK was good on the mic, but IMO not amongst the best. The guys on that list were/are better than him IMO (and HBK is my all time favorite). His heel promos were great, but his face promos were not exactly amazing stuff.
Same goes for Taker. While he was good, he wasnt' good enough to be on this list.

Any list of allegedly greatest talkers that does not include Bruno Sammartino (which smells of pettiness) has zero credibility, never mind debating the positioning of those on it.

And, BTW, the Captain's surname is spelled "Albano".--SWManor
